Is This a Correct Spelling or Just an Extremely Common Typo/Misspelling?

what’s up with “tounge” instead of “tongue”?

I’m going with misspelling/typo. I’ll bet it all, Alex.

Hmm, I’ve never seen that spelling before.

Now you have.

(don’t feel bad, beatenman, i’ve seen other people spell it that way before.)

I’ve typed that spelling before. It’s a fairly common typo. Do a Google search on it, and you’ll see what I mean. Doesn’t make it correct though; “tongue” is the proper spelling.

Oh man, I’ve been mispelling it for the last 10 years!

You’ve been mispelling “monkey” too.

Doesn’t anyone know not to misspell?

How?

I think common typo.

“tounge” just looks rediculous

I’m with Sock Munkey on this one…

Oh the shame.

togue doesn’t look so hot iether.

“tounge” looks like it should be pronounced “tOWnge”

It’s analogous to a much more common misspelling: chaise lounge.

The one and only correct spelling of this item of patio furniture is chaise longue.

It’s French for ‘long chair’. What’s so hard about that to grasp? Look, it has the word “long” in it. The thing itself is elongated in shape. What’s not to understand? Sheesh.

Yet every American I’ve ever heard calls it a “chaise lounge.” Because you “lounge” around in it?

So by analogy are we supposed to pronounce the name of the lingual organ “tounge” to rhyme with “lounge”?

Karma, or a whoosh? I can’t decide. Oh, I mean “dicide”.

Ha ha! Got another one!
