Is this a fake movie? Tomie beginning on youtube

I found a J-horror (adaptation from Junji Ito horror manga) movie called Tomie Beginning or Tomie The Beginning (yeah, as a non-native English speaker articles are somewhat optional for me) on youtube and it seems very very odd. Is it a real movie, or did someone make a similar amateur film on the same topic and maybe reuse some scenes from original japanese 2007 film? There are a couple of pics on IMDB and they sort of don’t match the youtube version and sort of do. I don’t really want to sit through it to be disappointed later. I saw earlier Tomie-themed movies, and their were true real movies (4 theatricals and 1 straight-to-video). Not sure about this one (I am not giving link, just search for full tomie beginning). Is it real, edited, compiled? Video’s duration doesn’t match the official movie runtime. Odd, huh?

Now I wonder should I also create a separate thread for discussing the quality of amateur free yotube movies or rather the lack of quality and their suckage? I mean, I am not a learned cinematographer, but I immediately see them as ‘off’. Is it boring eventless scene editing? Wooden acting? Non-existent camera work? Pointlessly prolonged dialogue? I mean, a lot of random people talk about lighting and type of films and sound, but come on, it’s secondary. Equipment is less important than actual cinematic skill.

Dude, did you read the post thoroughly? I know the series, I know the wiki, my question was about different issue.
It is specifically about that stuff on youtube, whether that’s a real one, or a amateur remake/compilation and stuff, kinda like Transmorphers after Transformers, getting the idea?

Dude, did you read the reference throughly? You claimed that there were 5 film adaptations, when in fact there are 9. All of which are described. One of which is Tomie: Beginning, which has a paragraph describing that 2005 direct-to-video movie and a link to a dedicated page:

Chill out. He was just providing context for those of us not familiar with the original

Not quite. I know that about 9 films. I never posted about it, because I assume just like any of us we can google and wiki by our own, right?
What I said is I saw 5 adaptations. That’s why I am curious about the other later ones, many of which are available online, oddly. And all of them are somehow odd-looking, kinda non-professional. Given that youtube is full of godawful disappointing amateur big movie lookalikes, my questions become even clearer, right?

I could point out that the length of an hour and a half given at IMDB and Wikipedia is apparently wrong, with it listed at 1:15 at Apple, which lines up with the 1:10 of the Youtube video without closing credits.

I could point out that the cast list from the opening credits of the Youtube movie Tomie Beginning matches the cast list for the Wikipedia cast list for Tomie Beginning.

But since you seem to want to be hostile about it, I’ll just point out that, based on this post, you are apparently a former member returning under a different name.

Let’s hope it’s real then. Why pay when you don’t have to, right?
It is very different in tone to earlier ones, so it does look odd.

Also, interface on desktop is bad. Not really an argument. Are there any alternative similar minded forums, but with old-but-gold interface? Nope. Snopes forum is dead and buried, Giraffe board is a ghost town with occasional grampas chatting once in a while, Xkcd is bombed and burned to cinders. So, you get what you can. Still it doesn’t make it good.

Moderating: This thread is off to a very aggressive start. Both @Iori_Yagami and @Darren_Garrison need to dial back the hostility in future threads.

Also Darren_Garrison, accusations of socking up or trolling do not belong anywhere but The Pit or in a Flag.

This one is enough of a mess that I’m going to thread ban the thread itself and leave it closed.
