Is this a real Rolex?

My wife bought me a Wolex for christmas. Since I have real Rolex’s there is no way its going one my wrist. She paid $300 cdn form a Chinese site. It is incredible, I cant see anything that would lead me believe that it is a fake. Even has the micro etch crown on the crystal. I did find however that when I wind it or change the time it doesn’t have the silky feel that the real ones do. I am a watch guy so I am very familiar with quality watches. I ordered a dial so I am going to swap it out and change the bracelet so at least I can wear it. Yes we did have a chat and shed ended up getting a seiko SKX009k for me. Its getting lots of wrist time right now…

When I was in S. Korea I bought Rolexes for all my kids. About $20 each.
They all still work but when my son took his to wal-mart for a new battery they refused saying their insurance couldn’t protect them if they damaged his expensive watch. He could not convince them otherwise, but then it was Walmart.

I once had a very difficult time explaining to my uncle that if it has a battery, it is not a Rolex… he insisted that my cousin would never give him a fake Rolex for Christmas…

Answer–if your watch has nothing but genuine Rolex parts, they work on it. If anything has been retrofitted that *isn’t * genuine Rolex, it comes back. Sounds like you’re good to go.

Thanks, samclem.

In case anyone is interested (and even if you’re not), there was no problem with the Jubilee bracelet (genuine, but not original to this particular watch) being on the watch. After six weeks, I picked it up today.

There are quartz driven, battery powered Rolexes in addition to the auto-winding models. Not many, but they exist, and some are valuable collectors items (if genuine).

Two of his last 23. As of today. But of those two, we have a Newbie complaining his Rolex is fake, and another Newbie complaining it’s not in the described condition. I am dubious of Negs from Newbies. Anyway, this dude sells Rolex watches. I doubt if it’s fake.

I agree with Samclem, I have seen the upper-end $200 Fake watches, and they are unbelievable. They tell good timetoo. In fact, if I had a real Rolex, I’d buy the copy and wear that.:stuck_out_tongue:
