I think you overestimate the sophistication and intelligence of the Daily Mail.
As a more or less average looking woman, I don’t hate beautiful women, I envy them. But not even that much. I don’t think about it a lot, really. I agree she sounds paranoid and is probably making a lot of assumptions.
I don’t think she is ugly, but she does look like she’s sneering in a lot of her pictures, which is not very becoming.

Maybe she’s one of those people who is more attractive in person than in photos, and it is possible the Daily Mail chose those pictures for that reason. But she doesn’t strike me as one of those women whose mere appearance causes men to lose control of themselves. And, if the stories of women not liking her talking with their husbands are true, there is something more going on than simply her physical appearance.
So I vote “exaggerated for effect”, either by her or the newspaper or (more likely) both.
Although I have met women who could make men fall all over themselves, and used that to further their own interests. The one I am most thinking of didn’t do it just for kicks, or to cause trouble for other women. She realized that her beauty (and she was truly stunning, almost literally) was her major asset, and she used it to get what she wanted. And not even in a particularly immature or selfish way - just in the same way that other people play to their strengths.

It’s funny that people are immediately saying troll because they can’t believe she really means it. The Daily Mail are trolling - that’s all they do - but she really is this deluded and misogynistic.

I agree with others who think it is the Daily Mail who is trolling. The Daily has rewritten work before that painted the original writer in a horrible light. It is possible Brick really does believe this, but that it was exaggerated in the article by the DM’s ‘editing’. The Daily Mail is a hideous, misogynist rag. They really do hate women and they had at least some responsibility to protect one of their writers from publishing such ridiculous tripe.
I think Brick believes what she wrote to some degree, but that the Daily Mail is exploiting her.

TBH I think the Daily Mail pile-on is a bit overdone sometimes. No, I don’t like the paper myself either, but where’s the hate for the Express? And like it or not the Mail is one of the most successful papers of recent years.

Well, I probably have pretty much the same opinion of the Express, only it doesn’t come up as much. TBH there are only a few British papers that are half-way decent. And women have throughout history been very much complicit in their own oppression, look at women wearing veils and saying it is their choice.
As to why it is so successful: Gegen Dummheit kämpfen Götter (and the Straight Dope) selbst vergebens. And I think the gods have been going since before 1973.
Men can and do give gifts/preferential treatment to some women, so maybe she has been on the receiving end of same. I have, but I don’t think it means I’m the Most Beautiful Woman Who Ever Lived And Everyone Else Hates Me For It, and I’m not going to have the Daily Mail do a feature on me.
Her follow up the next day she claimed that all the bile was proof that she was correct and people hated her for her looks (?!)
