I was just about to post that article, hermette. Pertinent quotes:
Not at all - I just assumed from your post that you’d already read the article as you seemed to be agreeing with it so well ![]()
The did a follow up where a reporter met the woman in person, and apparently she is breathtaking when you see her in the flesh, but no men were throwing flowers or anything at her.
And she’s apparently a lovely woman to talk to.
:dubious:
I bet you never lift anything over three pounds.
There are definitely people who are not just physically attractive but have some sort of magnetism about them, their personality or mannerisms. She may be one of them. Why it’s news-worthy I’m not sure.
lol hates women…guardian trolling while accusing the daily mail of trolling…thats uk media for ya:)
Hmmm… the writer of the Guardian article is hotter than Brick (at least based on the byline pic). What does that mean?
She’s going to be on The Late Late Show tonight on RTÉ 1 (no idea if that’s available online outside of Ireland) to explain herself
gets popcorn
Well fudge! She actually came across as quite nice!
She looked a lot better on telly than she did in the photos, apparently she hadn’t written an article about how gorgeous she is, but about why are women so mean to each other, but the Daily Fail twisted it into something else. She doesn’t have gifts, flowers, things paid for every day of the week, but it has happened.
Seriously? she claims the paper re-wrote hew story to twist it into an entirely different one?
Didn’t she supposedly write a reply to all the criticism she was getting and essentially reiterate he claims, and call all the complainers jealous or envious? Did she mention that story? Did she write it?
Hmmm… I saw the same interview and reached the opposite conclusion.
While she did say that the Mail somewhat changed the content of her article (as you say, she claims to have originally written about “why are women so mean to each other”), she also repeatedly stated lines such as “I’m beautiful” and “I’m attractive” and “they’re jealous”, without a hint of irony or self-deprecation. I’m sorry, but gender has nothing to do with this - I think most people would think a guy was a tool if he espoused similar statements in a broad public forum about himself. Ryan did a pretty poor job interviewing her, not once broaching the subject of her perceived arrogance as possibly being the source of the uproar, as opposed to purported jealousy on the part of her detractors. My vote would be “Not a troll - Just a preening, self-deluded narcissist”.
I will say this, though. She does have really nice, sparkling eyes.
For those who wish to check it out, the interview is here. It starts at about the 44:00 mark.
I agree with Fuji. She barely hinted that the paper might have changed the story, she said she “pitched” it to be about the meanness between women, but the paper wanted something else. She didn’t say anything about whether she re-wrote it, or they did, or that it was re-written at all. Essentially she stood by it.
I agree she looked better on the video than the pin in the news stories… but not a lot better. Maybe more men buy her drinks and stuff because they don’t think she’s out of their league. If she was really beautiful, they wouldn’t even bother.
[Off-Topic]Cool! You were actually able to see the video then. I wasn’t sure if it would be viewable outside Ireland. Next time something else interesting pops up on RTE that I’ve seen, I can share the link with you guys.[/OT]
Kind of a shame the discovery was made on this particular video.
FYI, my dad was born and raised in County Cork.
This woman is a master troll. She writes inflammatory articles to spark response. Doesn’t matter if the DM is also trolling, I suspect they are. But she is DEFINITELY a troll. No doubt about it. Now that one of her trolling attempts has actually hit the pay dirt at the end of the troll bridge she is smart enough to polish up her personality to maximize the whirlwind of media attention she it getting. Real talk shows, the Today Show…this is troll GOLD baby. So she is smart enough to know that now is the time to put down the pathetic troll pen and pick up the sword of 15 minutes of fame.
All of that said, I have to totally agree with the point she is making in the video. When beautiful women are given ill treatment in the work place, by other women, that shit is never really dealt with. I see it all the time. I will tell you something about how awful some women can be. If you are overweight (which I am) and not generally seen as a ‘threat’, women will have no problem with you at work; I get along with all the women, from the most beautiful to the homeliest, from top executives to the rookies. But when a beautiful women starts at work, there is always sniping, smart remarks, jealousy, rumors, tension, etc. Plenty of times, I have put people in check who assumed I would be all for hating on the new pretty girl in the office with them. No, sweety…I have absolutely no reason to give some hot mama in the office a hard time. That shit is crazy to me.
I’m not saying all women do this. But it happens. Some women can be super mean.
RTE’s own news and I think most documentaries are typically viewable internationally but most other shows aren’t, and definitely not ones RTE buys in.
I did use the word “apparently” didn’t I?
- checks*
oh yes, I did indeed use the word “apparently”
Now what was your question?
Thanks for the heads-up.
Boyo Jim - County Cork rules! ![]()
WRT to Co. Cork, let’s agree to disagree.
Relative to some of the other places I’ve lived, it sure does. But I didn’t mean to assert the awesomeness of Cork vis-a-vis the other 31 counties. No offense intended.
