Is this global warming? (swam in sea in UK in June and no frostbite)

I went to Bournemouth with some friends today, and a couple of us decided to go for a swim in the sea.

It wasn’t that cold

It’s not even the middle of June, and this is England ferchrissakes! What’s going on? I have never swum in the sea this early in the year before as far as I can remember - just dipping a toe in the edge is normally enough to convince me it’s a bad idea until at least mid-July…

Nope. You’re just shedding your wimp-ness :stuck_out_tongue:

Are you and your friends obese? I mean are you grossly overwieght? Are you sheathed in pounds and pounds of unsightly fat? Are your arms, legs, torsos about to burst due to the over accumulation of fatty deposits?

No?

Then you were swimming near a sewer outlet. Eewww!

It can’t be global warming; global warming is supposed to cause an ice age in your area.

I once saw a really funny English comedy about a guy who was making his living be being a subject in medical experiments. In one scene he was taking into a building where there were some bleachers with people in them watching a movie of a sporting event. Maybe football. There was a huge stack of blocks of ice with large fans blowing across the ice toward the people in the bleachers and guys were throwing buckets of water up into the fan blast so it would drench the ‘spectators.’ When the guy and his escort went out through another door there was a sign that read, “British Summer Simulator.”

Nope… I’m off the “fashionably skinny/malnourished” British persuasion… 5’10 and less than 150lb soaking wet.

Gee, thanks.

Actually, although it didn’t feel cold at the time, an hour or two later I was sat in the pub asking everyone: “Are you cold? Is it just me or is it really cold in here?” so maybe I did manage to chill my bones…
