Given that it appears to be a sketch, I would say that it could be whatever the artist conceived it to be.
It definitely has plant like attributes, or it could be a ceremonial spear.

Definitely a rather accurate illustration of a banana flower (or to be more precise, an inflorescence, that is, group of flowers). The image on the left is upside down, the one on the left is oriented correctly.
Looks like a B&W photo to me.
You seem to have developed a stutter.
And in the interests of accuracy, it’s worth noting that, depending on which species of banana it is, either image could be the right way up.
