Is this really threadshitting?

I was exaggerating for satirical effect (not very successfully, it seems). However, I’ll stick to my point that joining the SDMB and posting heavily from day one is considered gauche and borderline trollish.

If posting too much is intrinsically bad, let’s make it an official rule and apply it to everyone regardless of join date. Otherwise, it looks like a pretext for newbie-hazing.

But posting too much is not intrinsically bad. You really have to consider the posts on a qualitative scale.

I’ve been hanging around Thread Games a lot recently, and I noticed this newish guy (Beck) posting repeatedly throughout the day there like he’s some sort of Elendil-meets-Pepperwinkle wannabe. Smokin’!

I have made a mistake or 3 and posted before understanding as much as I should have. I have no problem admitting that. I own it if I know about it. And I apologize when necessary. No one is perfect. And I do know my rights. If the rules change I will abide by them.

I don’t know what that means. I am female, btw.

Not necessarily trollish but definitely gauche. And it’s actually very rare. If it happened all the time, you would have a better point in my opinion. Beck is an extreme case. John Mace is, I believe, our most prolific poster. He’s a large outlier himself and Beckdawreck is posting nearly 1.5 times as much as he is. It’s inconsiderate behavior. Three or four Moderators have made subtle and not so subtle digs about it. Many of us who have been around for a while, including some Moderators, are annoyed with it.

If I were new to a social gathering and I was annoying a lot of the people there, even if many didn’t notice or care, I’d either try to modify what I was doing or find somewhere else to go. I sincerely hope that Beck chooses the former.

It means you’re having fun with the games and making them funner. The other two Dopers I mentioned are … active.

Oh, ok. Why thanks.

Oy. The last think I wanted to do here was to instigate a pissing contest between posters. I feel like my question was answered, so for what it’s worth I’m OK if the thread is closed.

I don’t understand your insistence on rights. This isn’t a court of law. But when you comment in every thread, sometimes flat out wrong information and sometimes posts like this one where you say:

, well…we have the right to get annoyed.

You don’t have to post just because you opened a thread.

Good idea. Thread closed.
