This will be fairly mild, I’m sure. It’s far too early in the morning to just throw out “fuckwit” and “goat felcher” all willy nilly, so I’m not even going to try.
Inspired by my Cafe Society thread about Alec Baldwin. It was Menocchio’s response that made me want to reply, but this is hardly an attack on him/her specifically. I’ve seen the attitude I’m talking about all over this board.
I’ll begin by saying that I’m in no way directing this towards those with opinions on the topic that differ from my own- after all, it’s that kind of discourse and exchange that makes this place wonderful, (hopefully) teaches us all some things, and (maybe!) makes us all a little better for the road. To those of you that in every thread can come in and post an intelligent albeit different response than my own, thank you. There have been many times I’ve actually had my mind changed about particular topics (one that comes to mind is polygamy, actually) and learned quite a bit in the process.
But I digress.
This is about those of you that find it absolutely necessary to be thread shitters.
I get it, not everybody is into celebrity gossip/whatever the topic du jure is and a good chunk of you might actually find the celebrity culture shameful, disgusting, whatever. That’s cool. We’re all different and I’m sure you’re into something that I consider horribly stupid as well. That’s life, right? Neither of us are necessarily right or wrong, blah blah peace and happiness blah blah. Ok.
That said, why on earth do posters (like Menocchio in the above example) find it necessary to pop in and tell us all every reason why they are disgusted by the topic at hand? Congrats! You’re better than everyone because you are above that petty celebrity gossip. It disgusts you and is absolutely none of your concern. Fabulous!
But guess what? Some of us are interested in it. So rather than coming in and shitting in the middle of the thread about how above this type of childish discourse you are, why not just stay out of it? When I consider something disgusting or none of my damned business, I don’t get involved- let alone consider a well-thought out, well-worded response. There are plenty of OPs I read around here that just make me stare wide eyed at the screen for a moment, shake my head, and hit the close button.
Like I said, this isn’t just within celebrity gossip posts, but that seems to be where I’ve noticed it the most lately, you goat-felching fuckwits. (I figured I’d try to get one in as my coffee has started to kick in).
