Just wanted to reiterate how safe “magic” mushrooms are:
The LD-50 of psilocybin is 641. Compare that to, 199 for aspirin and 21 for nicotine. One would have to consume their body weight in mushrooms in order to have a lethal overdose!
One of the biggest dangers is eating misidentified mushrooms. Unless you are a trained mycologist, never go mushroom hunting on your own! There are many toxic species of mushrooms that resemble psilocybin mushies.
And yeah…while you might think that you can fly while under the effects of a psychedelic, take Bill Hicks’ advice: Take off from the ground!!!
Of course, the problem with hallucinogens isn’t that they have a significant LD50 but that they can induce severe states of paranoia, anxiety, and generally unwanted mental states where people are prone to harmful behavior, either to themselves or to others.

Also, for the safests first trips (from a novice of hallucinogens) always do it with someone you trust, make sure that they’re not one of those paranoid type of people, and relatively an emotional stable person. Never do it driving or operating heavy machinenry (for real this time), and never stare at the sun!
