*I’m not convinced those are dead bodies. The photo looks staged. No, I cnn’t say why…it just looks faked to me. If I thought they were real, I might have skipped this one.
Believe it or now I actually knew this. A beautiful young lady whom I was great friends with has this same name.

I have yet to laugh at your words. I find the images you display lacking content and a formative description. Who did the shooting, who are the people, what area of Iraq is this.

I have have lots to say I can be quite charming and quick witted and could talk your ears off provided you let me.

It is good to be proud of your regional heritage… why your proud to type in english you do not speak english baffles me.

I am sorry you have lost me completely here. Must be lost somewhere in the translation.

I actually have done this… what is your point? my opinion of what exactly?**
These are the most cold-blooded responses that I have read at SDMB.
Inssanah, there are many, many Americans who did not want the war and still others who felt there should be a war to free the people of Iraq from Saddam. It was hard to know what was right.
Your English was good enough to get your point across! And I think you know a lot more English than we know Arabic.
I hope that you find the peace and freedom that you seek. I wish you lots of food and clean water, the love of your family around you and things that will make you laugh again.
Good. I’ll take cold, hard facts over mindless knee-jerking emotional responses any day. We’re here to fight Ignorance, not play Nicey-Nice Mushy Love.
Look Zoe hun, I ain’t gonna quibble with your politics because that’s not the point. For all we know Inssanah could be some 14 year old boy who gets his kicks out of making us squirm.
I gotta say that I agree with SPOOFE. It’s not our job to hold people’s hands and make them feel all mushy-mushy nice about it. If Inssanah wants to engage in a rational debate on the issue, fine. I don’t see why we can’t accommodate that. All s/he’s gotta do is say, “Hey, look, I don’t speak English well but I wanna talk about this.”
Also, I think it’s extremely precipitous of you to read into what little Inssanah has offered and make some sort of blanket statement of what his/her intent was.
Call me cold hearted, call me cynical, whatever. I applaud your well-wishes for Inssanah, but I don’t think that his/her attempt was meant in the spirit of peace and friendship.
Actually, Insannah; I’m kind of insulted that you seem to think I haven’t read any about Islam. Get off your duff and do a search of this site and you’ll see that I just might know a bit more about it than you seem to.
We got someone spewing glurge and linking to a bunch of anonymous pictures. And there’s a “caption the pictures” contest, of which I am, so far, the clear winner (being the only one who’s entered (except for the OP, but he/she isn’t even in the running)
Well, I was going to rip into your English skills, but that was before it was pointed out that it’s not your first language. As bad as it is, your English is immeasurably better than my Arabic, so who am I to judge? However, if you’d turn off Caps Lock on your keyboard, we’d all really appreciate it.
That said, I have to ask what you expected to prove with your post. Believe it or not, all of us who supported going to war with Iraq were fully aware that there would be a high cost in human lives. It’s just that a lot of us thought there would be a higher cost if we didn’t do anything. And speaking just for myself, I was pretty sure that higher cost would be paid primarily by Arabs, not Americans. Yeah, I know, “we bombed you for your own good” sounds terribley patronizing. But, goddamit, we’ve shown more care and concern for the lives of Iraqis in the last few months than Saddam Hussein showed in his entire life. I doubt there’s any way to get accurate numbers on this sort of thing, but I’d like to see a comparison of how many Iraqi civilians died at Allied hands, and how many Iraqi civilians lost their lives at the hands of their own government in a comparable time-span. I suspect more lost their lives to Americans, but not by much. And as of now, we’re done bombing Iraq: Saddam Hussein wasn’t going to stop killing Iraqis so long as he was alive and in power.
Anyway, welcome to the boards, even if I suspect you aren’t going to stick around for long. We already have a number of practicing Muslims on the boards, but we could always use a few more. Diversity is a wonderful thing.
OK, color me skeptical, but somehow, Insallah’s posts do not strike me as English-as-second-language, but Juvenile-pretending-to-be-foreign.
The ‘U’ and ‘regards’ sound too colloquial. And someone who has mastered the ‘wh’ and ‘gh’ spellings in English then makes ‘-ign’ transposition errors? The misspellings all seemed forced and the ALL CAPS is itself a yellow flag.
Number A, you don’t have to shout. Do you know how many Internet etiquette laws you are breaking by typing in all caps like that?..well…1… you are breaking 1… don’t type in all caps… anyway…
Might I assume that you are one who doesn’t believe that Muslims had nothing to do with flying jumbo jets into the World Trade Center and The Pentagon on 11 September 2001?
