I’m going to see my brother in Boston. I might have three or four hours to kill in finishing the drive tomorrow. (I’m in Wilkes-Barre, Penn. tonight.) I’ve wanted to visit the Bronx Zoo forever. If I budget three or four hours for it, is that worth $22.95? (Plus parking, I assume. It is New York, after all.)
The Zoo is amazing. The last time I was there was last April. We spent the whole day and didn’t feel we’d seen it all. I would go for it even for a few hours. Have a look at the place online and map out what you think important. It’s very large and even walking from one place to another can take time. Buy a tram ticket so you can move around more quickly. Some of the exhibits may not be open this time of year but it’s still quite a lot to see. The Zoo is right off the Cross Bronx. It has several entrances so make sure you know exactly where you are once you get out of the parking lot.
I wish I could join you but eldest would be gravely disappointed if I went back there without her.
Yes, 3-4 hours is enought to be worth it, if that’s as much as you can spare. It really is a great zoo.
Check with the staff to find out what animals will be outdoors and plan from that. The indoor exhibits are generally excellent, so even if the weather turns terrible there will be plenty to see.
Still, you need to go back when the weather is nice and you have time to see everything.
Try their interactive trip planner. I haven’t been since my kids were little. I’m gonna have to plan for an all day spring visit.
We’re family members - you can easily spend 3 hours there. There’ll be more stuff to see, but it’s also possible your feet will be hurting by then.
I didn’t go, by the way; I felt the weather was just too crummy. I do appreciate the advice.
