Yes, although making sure Jobu has his cigars and rum is not exactly a mundane reason.

mostly just a spazzy idiot, probably a repressed homo as well
Nice talk.
I don’t understand this need to belittle Tim Tebow. Do you envy him that much?
nope, that is my honest opinion. Sorry if you don’t like it.
Oh, well it’s honest, so you don’t have to be held accountable then.
Some people find terms like “homo” offensive.
I need to be held accountable for thinking someone is ridiculous? Ya maybe we should have an inquiry into Teebow not being liked by this guy in a forum, hate crime probably lol.
Next guy: what did you want me to say a secret gay?(sounds ridiculous), Or spell out homosexual instead of abbreviating it? I think when were talking about self hating gay men “homo” is just fine, way to nitpick lol.
I’ll say that I’m glad TT said something along the lines of god doesn’t care about football and kept it about HIS faith, not preachy to anybody.
What is hypocritical to me is anyone involved in missionary work in third world countries who holds the food hostage before passing out the bibles.
And there are many other extremely faithful members in the NFL. Phil Rivers has, what, 8 kids same wife?? I never hear Rivers or Tebow telling me I have to be faithful. But ending every interview with a “god bless” really irks me. We are watching you play football. Your faith is your own and not mine.
One question: if the Steelers break Tebow’s back this week, would he thank Jesus for the test??
He’s been a missionary. He did a commercial airing during the Super Bowl (you know, the most visible platform in the history of the world) denouncing abortion, for Focus on the Family, an anti-gay hate group. He is, by definition, preaching to everybody. He can’t go out there and try to make other people change their religion, make them change their beliefs, and ally with an organization that wants to make people change their core sexual and romantic identities by force of law, and then claim it’s his private business and we have no right to judge him. This is the very definition of a double standard or, to put it in other words, hypocrisy.
Ooop, I forgot about that commercial. Yes, it aired during Super Bowl (which should’ve been banned) but I don’t hear it on the field from him though. Still, using his fame to get a little special permission on SB air time for personal opinions is hypocritical.
I agree he (all xtians) are hypocrites, and any xtian-based charity I’m suspicious of. As a person/christian, he’s a hypocrite. As a NFLer, make him a tight end or a fullback. He’s not a quarterback.
Tebow’s prayer could be a prayer of Thanks, and it is his right, but to me prayer is a lack of trust, to me a Supreme being who knows all things even before they happen, and is a good father, wouldn’t need his child to beg for things, if they are good for the child a good father wouldn’t hold anything back, if bad, he wouldn’t give it to the child no matter how they begged, and could read the heart of a child and know if the child is grateful. If however the gesture was made for public display(like the Pharisees) then it would be an insult to the father. I guess we just should not judge, and if it is an empty gesture one can just ignore it, who cares what Tebow believes or does. If he plays his best and so does his team then they won,in spite of any prayer! One could pray to a carrot and if the thing prayed for was given then they can Thank the carrot, if not they can say,'Carrot said no!
Notice that Jesus is quoted as saying let people know by good works not public display of one’s own holiness!
Can you quote where he said people have no right to judge him?
Maybe not, but if Tebow is legit he’d accept it as God’s will. Things like that happen to true believers all the time.
resisting temptation to match with equally childish “takes one to know one”.
failed resisting.
Not the “homo” that annoys, its the fact that being homosexual (even repressed) is still used as a slam in 2012.
Taking longer than you thought SDMB, taking longer than you thought.
Your mind works in fascinating ways.
If Tebow was a Muslim, I’m quite sure he would be accepted and his running to the mat after calling a time out at the appropriate time for Muslium prayer would generate tons of discussion on and off the air, both positive and negative like we have now with Christian Tebow. As long as Tebow is hot, this would be a good thing for Muslim acceptance in America.
To answer your question, Tebow’s support would evaporate if he started losing.
The “Allahu Akbar” cry however would not go over well. As far as most of the rest of us are concerned its a Muslim war cry.
Does anyone actually do that, and if they do, can you explain why it’s hypocritical as opposed to just reprehensible?
Super Christians that are repressed homosexuals hate homosexuals. If I had an actual slur to use against them I would, but I guess reprehensible annoying morons will have to do even if it’s non-specific to their combination of bible and other kinds of thumping.
Why must everyone be a repressed homosexual?
