Is Trump confused?

Is he just mouthing “thank you” over and over? What the weird-ass fuck is this?

ETA: in the photo they linked to, you should also take a look at his two idiot sons in the background. Apples, tress, something something…

I’m sure he was just celebrating the anniversary of achieving the tallest building in Manhattan.

The lie that trump is spreading is not that perhaps someone somewhere is eating cat or dog, it was that "illegals’ are stealing other peoples family pets to eat them. And yes, the City Manager would know if the police etc had received any such reports.

The thing that struck me about his pet-eating claim was he’s still using the old “People are saying” routine. When Muir fact checked him, his response was “I’ve seen people on television…”

Well, yeah…that person was JD Vance.

In this case I believe the right saying goes rather: Apples, horses, something something…

Sit a minute with what you wrote, and ask yourself: are you really understanding the point here, both of the claim and of the city manager’s rebuttal? Like, did this need to be said? Is your link actually relevant to this conversation in any way whatsoever?

The thing that struck me about his pet-eating claim was that conservatives have been claiming that “illegals” are coming to the US and instantly becoming eligible for thousands of dollars a month in food stamps, welfare and SSI and being put up in 5 star hotels while at the same time “illegals” are stealing family pets to eat them.

Could they at least try to keep the lies straight?

Why would they? They’ve been saying immigrants are stealing your jobs and stealing welfare for years.

I was just saying how it sounded to one person, me, in real time. Looking at the transcript now, Trump did not use the word “stolen” to describe the animals. But reading it again, I do find that was the implication, and agree that the city manager would know if there was an increase in reports of lost/stolen pets.

Schrodinger’s Mexican- at once too lazy to work and also stealing our jobs.

Don’t forget about the free sex changes they give out at the wall.

I’m not sure you understood my comment, then, as that is not at all what I was saying. Of course Trump, in addition to his culinary skills at word salad, constantly vomits out hateful, lunatic, and downright false statements. But not everything he said in the debate was instantly identifiable as sheer insanity to people who are unaware of the facts.

I had hoped Trump would devolve into garbled phrases, moving for no discernible reason from topic to topic, never finishing a thought or a sentence. The example I have in mind is his response to the question on child care legislation at the Economic Club of New York. Trump’s locutions at the debate very rarely dropped that low.

I agree with your entire post. But I think that his absolute helplessness–his incapacity to resist–in the face of the bait Harris put out, might be a sign of a change in his cognitive abilities.

So much is at stake for him. His own team warned that if he kept returning to self-obsessed topics (such as ‘people leave your rallies’ and ‘world leaders don’t respect you’) that the crucial independent voters he needs would be turned off.

But he couldn’t stop himself. He’s always been self-obsessed, of course. But is it possible that 15 or 20 years ago he’d have been able to stick to business, and not reveal his inability to control himself?

Re: The immigrants eating pets thing…

Another poster above, (my apologies I can’t remember who said it and I’m having trouble finding the post again), pointed out that this story has absolutely f*** all to do with any actual laws being broken or what people may or may not be eating

This was about putting a specific image in certain people’s heads. Do you have a pet? Do you have a dog that you love very much? Maybe you put them out for 5 or 10 minutes at night before bringing them in? When Trump told that story did you briefly get an image of your head of a black man sneaking into your backyard and kidnapping your dog? That’s the image Trump wants in your head when you go into the voting both. That is the sole and only purpose of that story being told on national television.

Also, Nazis love a good blood libel.

We’ve already seen what happens when he sticks to business: bankrupticies and fraud.

I’m sure Trump will see a thumbnail with Biden wearing one of his ugly hats and begin babbling about a “Biden comeback.”

Has it gotten steadily worse since then? Dunno.

“I’m not the baiter, you’re the baiter!”

Given that the 9/11 anniversary was yesterday, we should recall that 23 years ago on that day, Trump was bragging that he now had the tallest building in lower Manhattan and that 1000s of Muslims were cheering across the river in NJ.

Given the choice between sticking to business or calling attention to himself, Trump’s never really had self-control.

Shouldn’t Trump have said: “I’m not the baitee; you’re the baitee!”

After all, Trump’s the Master baiter, especially considering Melania’s apparent coldness towards him.
