It’s been said that Trump might not be able to read. I think it’s pretty clear he doesn’t understand numbers and counting either.

I’m not certain of that; what I am certain of is that he routinely throws exaggerated crowd-size numbers around to speak about his own popularity, as well as imply that his opponents are not popular.
It appears he things his opponent is the animated corpse of Ronald Reagan.
I suspect they also use the excuse used countless times by criminals: “Well, if I don’t do it, someone else will.”
Life is a lot easier if you have no shame or scruples whatsoever.
Not many people know this, but there were only about 15,000 people at Lincoln’s Gettysburg address. We get 10 times, even 100 times more people at my rallies, and they’re much more entertaining than that boring Gettysburg speech.
and they’re much more entertaining than that boring Gettysburg speech.
I wish Trump would keep his speeches as short as Lincoln did with that one.

For years, Republicans have talked about Reagan as their standard of Good Republicanism. The MAGAs don’t, but no doubt Trump still encounters way too many Republicans who mention Reagan.
As it says in Deuteronomy,
Ye shall not go after other gods, of the gods of the people which are round about you; for the LORD thy God is a jealous God …
That “Liz Cheney should be shot” stuff needs to be the main story through election day.
Yes. And all the Republicans already spouting the defense ‘what he MEANT was that if she wants war she should go to war herself,’ have no answer to the point: should any candidate ever say that an opponent should have guns pointed at her face?
Obviously the answer is ‘no.’ But they can’t say that. They have to defend Trump saying that Cheney should have guns pointed at her face.
I’d wish them an appropriate and personal consequence to approving of such incitement, but of course that would be against board rules.
I suspect they also use the excuse used countless times by criminals: “Well, if I don’t do it, someone else will.”
Your post reminds me of this:
If for some reason you can’t see Reddit images, it’s a The Far Side cartoon. Two bears discover a car. One bear is mauling the owner, and the other one says, 'Wait a minute, Stan… These are good hubcaps. If we don’t take ‘em, it’s a cinch some other bears will.’

“I love Lincoln, our second-greatest President, after your very favorite president, which is me, of course. But, he only talked for like three minutes, and he didn’t even dance when they played music.”
We need to be emphasizing how dangerous and unamerican this is.
less verbal gaffes, more highlighting his incitements to violence.
Respectfully, I think you’re thinking of a different thread. This thread is “Is Trump confused?” It’s highlighting Trump’s mental state and possible decline. The sheer rate of his fumbled words is significantly different than four years ago. It’s very much relevant to whether his cognitive abilities are declining.
The trouble is, I don’t have the patience or fortitude to listen to Trump speak myself, and the fear is that getting snippets from Xter could be relying on someone maliciously editing the clips. That’s certainly the objection I would expect if I shared these with anyone.

I don’t think minor gaffes (“crime weight – crime rate”) indicate much of anything, absent rigorous statistical analysis. The outrageously stupid claims do, especially the outrageously bigoted ones.

There’s a difference between deliberate lying and confusion. The stupid claims and racism is calculated electioneering,
I don’t give a crap about Trump’s verbal gaffes. Verbal gaffes, like mispronunciation of words immediately followed by corrections (“crime wait, crime rate”), who gives a wet shit.
You should. Paraphasia is a common symptom of dementia.
Disagree completely… Waters, Hannity, or Carlson would fight each other to the death to drop trou and get f**ked by the orange clown. You simply cannot hide their fawning syncophancy. Never ever a word against their god is ever uttered.
He MIIIIIIGHT have a point, if he includes people who watch it, even just for a few seconds, on a live stream.
I’ve said this here before, and will again, but I know a woman who ushered at a local civic auditorium at a Trump rally in 2016. Among other things, she said, “I now know who all those people are who watch the Kardashians and those jungle survivoal programs.”
These stories about kids getting gender reassignment surgery at school reminds me of the urban legends about teachers (public school, of course, never private school) taking girls to get abortions during the school day without their parents’ knowledge or consent. Oh, yeah, right.

There’s the slurred words and Trump getting locked up on certain words only to change subjects entirely. “The Weave” I guess he calls it. Gaffes like crime weight instead of rate might not be a big deal in isolation, but their frequency along with the other problems we’ve seen seem alarming.

I certainly can’t discount that possibility. Watters seems like such an over-the-top parody of a conservative talking head that I can’t imagine he takes any of this seriously. But then you might be right, maybe he’s a true believer.

To them, anyone who is on a position to teach their children anything contrary to the will of the parent, WILL do the most utterly extreme thing the parent does not want.
“We should have never gone into Ukraine. If I was president, you would have never gone into Ukraine.” (We HAVEN’T “gone into Ukraine”)
“Liz Cheney would not fight. I will go with her, wherever she wants, and we will fight. She doesn’t have the guts to fight”
“That’s why I broke up with [Liz Cheney]” (lol wut)
“I think Colorado is going to vote for Trump”
Trump: What’s a good team today?
Fans: Detroit Lions!
Trump: Oh, the Detroit Lions right? I got bailed out. The worst thing you could do is mention some team not from the area. I’m in Michigan. I’m stuck up here.
“That beautiful white skin that I have would be nice and tan. I have the whitest skin because I never have time to go out in the sun. I have that beautiful white. It could’ve been beautiful tan”
“We are in a depression. You better hope you vote for me because I’m going to get you out of it”
“Have we ever had a low IQ presjdent?” (Yeah, I’m looking at him right now)
“New Mexico… That’s a real border state. But you’re a border state in a different sense” (he’s in Michigan, which does not have a land border)
Good lord - I watched a couple of those clips and he really is deteriorating right before our eyes. I can’t imagine anyone’s leaving there with any feeling of inspiration or “hell yes, we got this!”.
