Is Trump confused?

He’s the guy who should replace Biden to prevent Hitler.

It’s very clear that he’s trying to warn the donors that Biden is a “weak president” and therefore has to be replaced. Hitler is the cautionary tale, not the goal.

And yes, it’s ironic that you can draw numerous parallels between Hitler’s rise to power and Trump’s, but Trump is not in any way “constructing an analogy where he is Hitler”.

Exactly, it’s an incredibly stupid argument.

I don’t think he’s blaming FDR though, and this is really just a guess on my part, but I would guess he’s blaming Hindenburg, who was the leader of Germany at the time but caved to pressure and appointed Hitler as chancellor (before Hindenburg himself died and Hitler took over completely).

Trump’s argument is clumsy, vague, and incoherent though, so at least from that snippet it’s hard to be 100% sure if he’s referring to Hindenburg. (Or even really knows who that was.)

Tradition has it that a Medal of Honor recipient is saluted by everyone, officer and enlisted. So if a C-in-C meets one in the wild would it lead to an infinite loop?

No one is the villain of his own story, not even Trump. It just goes to show the power od rationalization.

He was that enormous guy who had a bad case of gas.

5 will get you 10 that he couldn’t identify FDR from the photo of the Yalta Conference.

Beat me to it.

“That’s Marla… that’s my wife.”

Would that be Stalin or Churchill?

Could be wrong, but I interpreted “weak president or head of the country” to be an allusion to the appeasers. While I’m open to the idea that Trump only plays dumb on TV, I would agree that he doesn’t know/has forgotten who Baldwin, Chamberlain, or Hindenburg were. And more than that — Trump is a worse appeaser of Putin than any British PM was of Hitler.

There is way too much truth to that.

Personally, I think it is more insidious than that. His followers actually believe he is a good Christian who is going to return the country to being a god-fearing nation. He is subtly reminding them of that with his patriotic salute to a Christian song. These self-serving gestures, believe it or not, earn him votes.

But I thought we were supposed to “kneel for the cross, but stand for the flag”

God, I hate Leg Day.

“Put him in jail twice. He is 77 years old. Normally, I would say that’s an old guy. But I don’t feel 77. Nobody ever says that about me. I would like them to say, we have to have a little sorrow for this man because they just don’t say that about me”

“They were able to use people, salacious, by the way nothing happened, there was no anything”

“I wanted to testify. The theory is, you never testify. As soon as you testify, anybody, if it were George Washington, don’t testify”

“Our witnesses were literally crucified by this man who looks like an angel, but he is really a devil”

“Was he a bad boy here?”

“They want to stop you from having cars”

And from yesterday’s post-verdict rant:

“This is long from over.”

It aint over until the fat man is in prison.

Well, they were destroyed on cross.

what the ??

Funnily enough, as an ex-President, Trump cant have (well, drive) a car.

Who is trump referring to with the “looks like an angel but he is really a devil” statement? Is he talking about Judge Merchan?

Yes, Trump has a fixation on Merchan’s looks that (checks forum) I will not speculate on the reason for.
