I think this is on-topic. Anyway, now I’m confused. I shared the article Northern_Piper shared, on my FB feed. I said it’s time to send Trump to a skilled nursing facility. To which a Trump Cultist replied [emojis removed by me]:
I agree, i personally don’t believe he’s going to be our next 4 year POTUS, I do believe we all have a huge surprise coming and we are all going to be very very happy, maybe sans a few TDS clowns
So my on-topic question is, are even the most deeply-invested MAGAs seeing Trump as ‘confused’?
Apologies if this next question is off-topic. The MAGA friend says she doesn’t believe Trump will be ‘our next 4 year POTUS’, but we’ll have ‘a huge surprise coming’. Any idea how I should parse this?
What could, hypothetically, be in it for him would be anointing a successor who would promise a full pardon. OTOH, that wouldn’t help Trump with his issues with the state courts, and it would require him to trust that person to follow through on their promise.
If he is not reelected, he will still have legal problems, and will need someone to pardon him.So he will make good use of all his cult-like powers as kingmaker.
Interesting that there seems to be even a tiny groundswell in MAGA world acknowledging his decline. I’ve seen it elsewhere.
I’m guessing the surprise is some form of the normal MAGA idiocy, where everything will turn out they way they want, because reasons, probably that Don Jr. fills the void.
If he is not reelected whoever he makes “king” will not be president until 2028/29 at the earliest. What good is that to him? Kamala Harris sure won’t pardon him.
I, on the other hand, would rejoice if he spent the next four years* in jail and people congregated chanting “Four more years!” in front of the prison he was kept in. * OK, make it three. Due process obstruction appeals and all that.
Trump can probably drag out his court cases for 3 or 4 years–and get sentenced just in time for the new Republican president to pardon him.
So after he loses the election in November, out of desperation, he will spend more energy (and money) manipulating the Republican Party than he is currently investing in his camoaign.
Again, remember that a presidential pardon only affects federal crimes. Trump is awaiting sentencing for his conviction in a state trial (New York), and his trial on state charges in Georgia is still pending.
Statistics only, the average 79 year old American male might live eight years longer. Population statistics do not correlate to individual cases. But it is hard to see a vigorous Trump in 2032.
My interpretation is a little scary. Maybe some MAGAs are hoping for a Trump loss that will ignite an armed right wing revolution and get rid of all of those parts of the Constitution they don’t like (like a “4 year POTUS”) in one fell swoop.
He’s so freaking deluded that he thinks everyone will buy that silly claim that the Harris crowd was AI. It’s becoming unclear that he can differentiate between reality and what he imagines. He’s a pathetic shell of a person running on fumes in the cranium. Having him hold the nuclear football is even more terrifying, much more so than when he had a bit more of his marbles. As was said about Percy in The Green Mile, “I think this boy’s cheese has slid off his cracker”.
