Is Trump's pettiness over Megyn Kelly going to hurt him [plus Ramos incident]

Clarification is a good thing. We aren’t writing dissertation on an internet website. The media and blogosphere introduced the idea that Trump was talking about Kelly menstruating. Several days later, Trump clarified his earlier statement. Several weeks later, media outlets are still asking Trump about Kelly. The people who made Kelly’s menstruation the hot topic du jour are now faulting Trump for continuing to talk about Kelly. Trump is responding to questions.

This whole issue has been a non-issue except to the Trump haters. Bless their hearts.

Ramos interrupted the press conference. Ramos chose to ignore media protocol and began making a speech without being called upon. Maybe Ramos thinks that Ramos must be more important than those other media assholes???

Ramos continued giving his speech. Ramos was told to sit down. Ramos continued to make his political speech. Ramos was escorted out. Buh-bye, Ramos, just like so many other rude and disruptive assholes have been over the decades.

But wait, there’s more. Ramos was allowed back into the press conference. Trump spent several minutes talking to Ramos. Trump 1 - Ramos 0.

Yes, Ramos did not wait for Trump to call on him. Ramos began pontificating as soon as Trump called on another reporter/journalist. Ramos certainly has a vivid imagination.

Given that this exchange wasn’t the first communication between the Trump camp and Ramos, I tend to give Ramos the benefit of the doubt. According to Ramos, he has been trying to get an interview for quite a while and all other 10 candidates have given him one already. The fact that Trump published a hand-written request from Ramos on the Internet, including his mobile number, makes me think Ramos no longer has any obligation to be polite to Trump. He already tried that and was met with hostility, and I also don’t think it’s fair to blame Ramos for the decision made by Univision to disassociate from Miss Universe.

Finally, given the history between Trump and Univision, plus Ramos pursuing him for an interview, it is ridiculous to claim he doesn’t know what Ramos looks like.

Please point out the portion of your link that supports your assertion that Trump was supposed to know what Ramos looks like. Yes, Ramos was pursuing him for an interview. How does that translate into “Trump knows what Ramos looks like”?

Trump recognized him well enough to tell him to “Go back to Univision”.

He recognized his fairly heavy Mexican accent well enough, yes.

And lets not forget that to counteract that the idea that Ramos had a Univision badge was floated around, it was poppycock, he did not had a badge that could be seen.

And again, there is more than one Hispanic network.

And all Hispanic journalists don’t necessarily work for a Spanish language network.

Since Trump knows that Univision is the one gunning for him, it was a pretty easy guess. Mexican accent plus unprofessional behavior.

Yeah, somebody should check his papers!

Too soon to tell how his tossing Ramos out of his presser will affect his standing in the polls, but the latest Q-poll was in the field up through Tuesday, so it should include reaction to the renewal of his fight with Megyn Kelly.

And in that poll, Trump leads with 28%, Carson has 12%, and nobody else has more than 7%.

Didn’t hurt him much, did it?

The thing with Ramos isn’t going to hurt him either.

(So, have other GOP candidates condemned Trump’s ejection of Ramos? Didn’t think so.)

And it pretty much trashes the ‘winnowing’ notion. Bush + Rubio + Kasich + Christie + (all the ‘don’t knows’) adds up to only 35%, which is what you get just from Trump + Cruz. And that’s an optimistic take for the wing of the GOP that can at least see reality off in the distance from where they are, since some of Christie’s fans like him because he’s a bullying blowhard, and not all of the ‘don’t know’ crowd is just waiting for the right semi-sane candidate to support.

Also, what did Trump mean when he later said to Ramos “How much am I suing Univision for right now? Do you know the number? I know you’re part of the lawsuit.” (emphasis added)

How are those two roles in conflict? Does having beliefs and advocating for them prevent one from asking good questions of influential people and reporting on the responses?

Our supposedly impartial, view-from-nowhere media is a relatively recent development. There used to be Republican newspapers and Democratic newspapers. And that was the sort of press that they had in mind in drafting the First Amendment, with its freedom of the press. They didn’t know about the kind of press we have now.

The unprovoked tweets and retweets he sent out after she came back from vacation was him responding to questions? Interesting perspective.

Can’t speak for everyone but I certainly don’t hate him. I actually worked with him back in the days of The Art of the Deal. I knew one of his vice-presidents and snagged an exclusive rental agency contract for some of their buildings in Brooklyn (Daddy’s buildings originally). He sent me a signed copy of the book and an autographed glossy of the cover photo wishing me luck since I had just opened my office at the time.

That was when he was considered a serious possibility for political office. I am finding it amusing that there are people who still think of him that way. Maybe it’s ignorance, or maybe it’s magical thinking. But I can only be grateful for his efforts to destroy the current Republican party machine. And make no mistake, that is what he is doing. And it’s not just about the presidency.

By then he was told that was Ramos.

Oh, so the idea is that he indeed knew Ramos, but didn’t know that this particular Hispanic gentleman was Ramos when he ejected him?

Of course he knew who Ramos was - he was suing him by name, I believe, together with Univision. I also knew who Ramos was before - I heard the name. I had no idea what he looks like though before that video. So I can easily believe that Trump had no idea that the guy who jumped up and started speechifying out of turn was Ramos.

As I said earlier, you really want to believe that Trump didn’t see this Time Magazine issue? Because Trump had no interest in who made the list of 100 Most Influential People of 2015? When he was seriously considering running for President. And not notice that the Univision anchor made the cover?

Right.
