Is "Two And Half Men" actually as bad as the 1st couple jokes make it out to be?

Wow, I’m surprised at how many people seem to hate this show. It cracks me up. I’d say it’s one of my favorite shows on tv. I don’t much care about Jim Belushi’s show. I’ve never been a fan of Frazier except when he was on Cheers. It’s bathroom humor at its best.

Oh… one more thing… as my son says: “Enright3 Loves Raymond.”

That show is HILARIOUS.

Meh.

Those pictures aren’t so great. My wife watches TaaHM and they had an episode the other day with Kandi in it. She was, in fact, hot.

Marc

I wasn’t refering to the pictures. I’ve seen her myself on TaaHM and, she doesn’t float my boat. She’s hot, but girls like that are ten-a-penny. And the stupid bimbo act puts me off. She might not be a ‘bimbo’ IRL but it puts me off the character.

I find it very bizarre that you can’t believe that other people don’t share your sense of humor. The world’s a big place. I accept that some people think the show sucks. What are your favorite comedies on TV now? That way I can get a read on your tastes.

I’m glad you brought this up. One of the icky things about the board is that there are so many people who want to proclaim that everything they don’t like sucks and people who like it are stupid. It doesn’t matter if it’s music, movies, books, plays, television - whatever. The posts become so smug, critical, and downright laughable.

I don’t watch the show, have never seen an episode. Somebody must like it because it’s been on for a bit.

It may be an age thing, as neither The Wife nor I can stand the show. We are both comfortably middle-aged, and have accepted that we are no longer the target audience for most sitcoms.

The bimbo thing would be incredibly annoying IRL, and I would end up dropping her like a bad habit…after a time. But there was an episode where she was in really short shorts on a stair climber, and, um, well, let’s just say I went through puberty a second time.

I hate Raymond, BTW, even though it is funny. The characters are so obnoxious, and Ray’s so pussy whipped I want to vomit.

I’ll bet the wife and I are older than you are.

I hate the show and you can’t make me watch it. Sitting in a dark quit room for an hour is better than the show.

I’ll take Rose. She wouldn’t need to stalk me.

Raymond was funny the first two years then they made his wife into a nagging shrew and it stopped being funny. Doris Roberts character was unlikeable beyond belief and after the first few years you actually rooted for her because the writers made Deborah that bad.

It’s one of those shows where, if you just put your mind in the sixth-grade version of the gutter and then pause the show after every line, you can pretty much guess what lame, obvious joke they’re going to go for. It reminds me of the sitcoms from the '80s that were fantastic when I was ten years old, but if I watch them now, I wonder what the hell I was thinking.

My favorite comedies on the air are Scrubs and The Office. I loved Arrested Development, M.A.S.H., and the Cosby show. I think Friends was REALLY good when it was at its best, but sometimes I couldn’t stand to be in the same room during the more embarassing scenes. I thought Everybody Loves Raymond was pretty good, but not outstanding. I like Southpark episodes about half the time, but I thought the movie was incredible.

It might help to give you some other examples of shows I didn’t (or don’t) like, too. Seinfeld is number 1. I never got it, but I’m willing to accept that some people might honestly think it’s funny. Roseanne was awful, but it’s popular to hate that show now in hindsight. I didn’t like the show Drew Carrey was on for awhile, but I tried really hard because I like some of the actors so much. I don’t like Family Guy, but I can accept that people see humor in the intentionally-annoying scenes. I didn’t like Full House at all, either, even though it was the most popular show on TV at one point.

Well, I thought maybe our tastes would be a lot different. I love the Office and Seinfeld, really like Scrubs, like most of Friends and South Park. Drew Carey was pretty funny most of the time.

I can’t stand Full House and Roseanne. Still, I understand that some people thought these shows were funny. I just disagree with them.

So nobody else thought the OP was talking about jokes about the President & his wife? (1st couple jokes)…just me? :smack: 'K then…

I started watching this show in reruns, and while it isn’t great comedy, it’s good comedy. Allen tries to do the right thing and ends up a failure, Charlie says to hell with it all, does the easiest things possible, and ends up a success. Jake is okay and holds his own with the 2 men.

The women really carry the show. I love Rose, who manages to play a stalker just creepy enough without going overboard.

I’ve watched a couple of episodes and found them appalling. I don’t mind vulgar humor as long as it’s funny. This just seemed like the equivalent of a 2-year-old shouting “POO POO PEE PEE!” just to get a reaction.

The only time I watched the show, we were visiting my mother, who’s in her 80s. She insisted it was hilarious and we would love it. Bleah. It was all stupid, unfunny crapola about sex that was actually embarrassing. Even my mother was embarrassed, it was so awful. And this is a woman who’s lost her inhibitions in her old age and told me some waaaaaaay TMI about sex with my father.

I’m just not much of a sitcommer any more, I fear. Apparently I’m out of the target group for the most popular ones; I’ve not enjoyed Seinfeld, Friends, Arrested Development, Scrubs, The Office, etc. The only sitcom I currently enjoy is Earl, and I can’t even tell you why.
