Is UPS sending messages in my car radio?

My morning routine goes- work morning shift as crossing guard, then drive to school. On the way to school, there is this UPS building. Around that time of the morning, all the UPS trucks are leaving it in a neat brown queue. The bizarre thing is 4 times out of 5 when I pass this UPS building, I hear the UPS “What can Brown do for you?” commercial on the radio. I’d think nothing of it if I passed this location at the exact same time every morning, but I don’t . My mornings are chaotic and sometimes I’m at school an hour early or an hour late depending on my work schedule, but the same damn radio ad still plays when I pass the UPS building.

What is playing on the radio before you hear the UPS ad? Are you listening to something else and then suddenly their ad cuts in on whatever you were listening to before? Have you tried listening to a different station? I really don’t think it’s likely that UPS would be doing this. For starters, I would think it would be an FCC violation for someone to hijack and existing frequency and override it with their own broadcast, and if they did this for every active radio frequency in your area it would be expensive. This wouldn’t be a good way to advertise, especially if they were intercepting an existing broadcast. This would be about like a pop-up ad that doesn’t just pop up, but takes your browser off of the site you’re currently visiting. This advertising tactic would certainly give the company a poor image.

I think it’s just coincidence that you’re hearing these ads when you happen to go past the UPS building. Since the holiday season is approaching (at least according to most businesses, we’re still two months away, but that’s another story) they’re probably just advertising more aggressively.
