I’m a float teller with the bank I work for, so I go to branches all over my area for work. I’m not sure if it’s just my bank or the area I live in, but I’ve noticed that most of the branches have a pink/maroon color scheme. (Our company colors are white and green… not red, BTW.) Why are the banks red? Is there some subconscious reason for the brick hues? Has anyone else noticed that?
Mine’s red, but Chase has just moved into the area and they’re way blue.
Not only is my bank red, but their online banking site absolutely *screams *red.
Mine is blue and yellow. And no, it’s not Swedish.
There’s a lot of dark beige inside the branches. It actually works well with the royal-blue accents.
My credit union’s logos are all silver/grey. The website is ridiculous, circa 1997 (it still uses frames for pity’s sake) and mainly blue and white.
The biggest local bank is blue with orange accents. The two nearest comers after that are green.
Remember in the 90s when everybody’s corporate decor was pink and grey? Maybe it’s just a continuation of that.
My bank is, and always has been, very blue.
Mine’s red. I’ve always hated that. It looks cheap and tacky.
If I look at South Africa’s major banks I get a good coverage of the primary colors
My bank used to red (ABSA), now is blue (Wachovia), but will likely be red again as Wachovia is swallowed by Wells Fargo.
Mine is teal and white. Could it be more boring?
Nope. Use Chase, which used to be WaMu, but it has never been remotely red.
Mine is blue and white.
It makes sense, though. “Leumi” is Hebrew for “national”, and any “National Bank” whose colors are not the same as those on the flag really needs to work on its branding.
Another blue&white, both in the official logo and the ususal inside decor.
Better than yellow.
I’ve never seen my bank, but it’s website is blue and green, with a fair ammount of red, white, and blue thrown in.
Yep, usually red/maroon and tan. But then, their corporate colours are red and yellow.
B of A… red and blue.
You’d think banks of all institutions would prefer black to red.
As you might have guessed Bank of America is red, white and blue.
The logo of my bank was blue and yellow, but the decor inside the branch was red. Then the bank itself went into the red, and got seized and handed over to Chase, which redecorated the branch to be deep blue.
They also mucked with the decor in other ways. The branch had been very unusual… rather than have tellers lined up in a row behind bulletproof glass, there were several round tables throughout the (small) branch, with a teller standing at each one. Cash was dispensed by an automated machine, obviating the need for a security barrier between the teller and the customer. I liked it a lot. Then Chase tore it all up and made it just like any other bank
I’m glad to know I’m not crazy… or just angry with work and “seeing red!”
So much of the decor is red-tinted woods and maroon floors, etc. This was in branches built anywhere from the 70s to a couple years ago. And some of these branches weren’t originally under my company. We almost doubled our local branch numbers a couple years ago when we bought out a smaller competitor… and some of those are red. But as they’re renovating old branches, they’re introducing more green, which is one of our colors… and, of course, the color of money!
