I used to be called Kickback_Joe all the time before I was married. I got the nickname one day when someone was looking for me and another guy said “Where do you think Joe is? He’s over there in the shade kicking back.” There are only a few people in the real world who know me as that now.
Nope. No one would even think to connect me with my Doper name.
Not any more - it used to be my SCA name, when I was in the SCA in college.
Nope. My user name doesn’t even have anything to do with me. When I chose it my own anonimity was the driving factor. It’s a nickname of a neighbor that I wanted to be like when I was growing up.
Whenever I see your posts, I can’t help but think of Ristar.
I use my Doper name on my tax returns!
Seriously, am I the only one who uses my legal name on the SDMB? Yeah yeah identity theft, however I find posting as myself makes me behave better. (You’ll notice I don’t post much, and never, ever vote in a public poll.)
Make it 15 years for me, but yeah. When we were in middle school my then best friend decided that I grew so slowly I must be an elf, so there were a few elf-related nicknames through high school when friends wanted to be irritating.
Nobody’s called me a Rush geek in years, since high school. And for that I should be grateful.
Pudytat was my name when I was a camp counselor. I like cats. But in the cartoon, I like Tweety Bird, so I became Pudytat. When I lead camp songs before dinner, I always had to sing “The Dickey Bird” and the campers said Pudytat instead of singing “Below him crawled a furry black…cat.” The only person who called me Pudytat after that summer was one of the other camp counselors.
Nope, it isn’t a nickname anyone has ever used for me. I just wanted a name that I wouldn’t forget!
I don’t actually have any nicknames. No one has ever been inspired to create one and actually use it for more than a day or two.
Only the surname part of my nickname is pseudonymous, and it comes from IRL activities in the 1980s which I really ought to be too proud to disclose here.
I am still called “Mudd” by a handful of people who knew me during those heady times.
My Doper name is one that was given to me a number of years ago by some friends. Although I’ve used variations of it online over the years, few people call me missred IRL anymore.
Nope. Although I’m sometimes “auntie Jen”.
Well, my Dopername includes my first name.
Does WoW count as IRL doe this purpose? It’s my main character’s name, although it’s more that I used the same word in both contexts than named myself here after my toon. I just like the word.
Yes, my username is used to refer to me in real life. Except I’ve still got one aunt who calls me Frankie.
Yes. I am called “Mom” every single day.
…yes.
My actual name is Gila. (Hard G, long eee sound. It’s Hebrew.) Everybody calls me that.
