Is yyour Best your Worst>

Inspired by the “worst trait” thread, I remember that my strengths are also my weaknesses, and if, In a 1980’s job interview, I’d been asked to describe myself in three words, they would have been the same three words:

Loyal
Honest
Concise

Or, as one of my friends put it,
Stubborn
Blunt
Cryptic

What about you? Are your best features your worst features? Can you be summed up in three words? Or six?

It’s an interesting question, but I got mentally derailed by the fact that “cryptic” means exactly the opposite of “honest” especially when you specify blunt honesty.

But yeah, I come across as curt while also, often being complimented on how efficient I am. (Ain’t nobody got time for useless chit chat!)

Yes, absolutely. In the other thread I talked about my worst quality, which is that I follow the rules and expect everyone else to follow them.

This could also be my best quality, since it not only means that I won’t break the rules, it means that I am consistent and reliable (you don’t have to worry about whether I will use my own judgment on when a rule should be broken), and that I can be put in a position to enforce rules.

My best/worst are generally the same. Whether good or bad is all on how others feel about the same qualities. I mean, “reserved” is either quiet dignity to some, or aloof to others. “Type A” may be thought of as fun to be around by some, but may be regarded as obnoxious by me. Anyway:

  • Stoic, relative to most I’m around anyway. Stop asking me “are you OK?” or telling me to smile.

  • “Level Headed”. To the reckless, I’m a killjoy. I’m cool with that.

  • Maybe a bit pedantic, and I like some order. This may vex the more desultory among us.

  • I like my humor drier than a good martini.

That’s me to a T. It’s a matter of fairness and respect.

Most personality descriptions can be spun as both positive and negative. I’m a Taurus. That either means that I’m loyal and resolute, or it means that I’m stubborn and pigheaded. An Aries is either a fearless trailblazer, or headstrong and reckless. A Gemini is either flexible and adaptable, or inconsistent and indecisive. Every blessing is also a curse.

I’m introspective and/or standoffish. I’m careful and/or timid. I’m precise and/or pedantic. I’m considerate and/or aelf-abnegating.

All true about me, but I’m a Gemini which means I also don’t believe in astrology.

As I stated in the other thread, my worst trait I am not going to change is my snarkiest. But I do have a marvelous sense of humor, and often make people laugh. One of my philosophies is “Any day you make someone laugh is not wasted.”

Four words that describe me: Methodical to a fault.
Being methodical is useful in analyzing control circuitry/instrumentation for problems (my work) but a handicap in other aspects of my life. For example, organizing my piles of office paperwork… if one piece of documentation is missing, I’m stuck till it is resolved… even if it takes all day. Hence, my office NEVER gets fully organized!

I was reminded of this today whilst out on the bike. This is the UK - we cycle on the left, and if you want to cycle on the right, I am NOT going to oblige you. I will literally run people riding towards me off the trail if they persist*.

I think this makes me a good person, but you may disagree.
