Islam is the only true ‘way’ and all beliefs are effectively heresy that challenge / corrupt Islam itself; thus classified as blaspemy, punishable by, what’s more often than not, a barabrous death.
How can the irrefutably intolerant nature of Islam, for anything that fails to conform lockstep with its pedantic precepts, ever be reconciled with a peace-loving society where human beings will naturally differ in opinion, and are encouraged to do so? How is this possible when the religious doctrine’s core constituent is to either assimilate or destroy all that fails to fall in line with its ideals?
That is to say, if even moderate Muslims are in the firing line, as has been clearly evinced here; what chance do the rest us have? Is there really even a ‘moderate’ form of Islam at all? Or is this just another form of non-committal balsphemy in fundamentalists’ eyes that, ultimately, would end in expungement in a Sharia governed world? =/
So, one group of hardline Muslims targets a more moderate group for violence, and it’s the hardline group’s actions that are considered definitive of the religion as a whole? How the fuck does that sort of logic work?
An entire nation of Muslims went apeshit and killed dozens of people because of the opinion and actions of one man 8000 miles away. A handful of hardliners took down the WTC buildings, attacked the Pentagon and almost succeeded in attacking the seat of political power. There is no logic behind it, just blind hatred sufficient to make believers WANT to kill themselves to further their cause.

Factually: a number of people in one city in one nation staged a demonstration against the idiot Florida pastor. The demonstrators were joined by armed members of the Taliban who specifically set out to attack foreigners, killing seven of them. The other thirteen people who died that day were a mix of security guards and protestors, (or attacking Taliban), who were killed by the security guards.
In other words, a band of terrorists joined a demonstration and used it as a cover to launch a terrorist attack that resulted in 20, (not “dozens of”), deaths. One may consider the protest, itself, to be an overreaction to the nonsense of one individual, but describing that as “an entire nation . . . went apeshit” is pretty much intellectually placing oneself alongside the overreacting demonstrators, (not the terrorists), and chanting the same sort of xenophobic nonsense in which the larger group engaged.
A nation of mostly Christians went apeshit and killed more than 100,000 Iraqis because of the action of a few men thousands of miles away. Guess that proves that Christianity is at least 10,000 times as evil as Islam, using your logic.
Yes. There’s always a fresh batch of radical Islamic murders to talk about. First a disclaimer must be made that it was done by radical Muslims. It’s a cultural thing that only happens in [del]Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Russia, Spain, The United States, Malaysia, Lebanon, Iraq, Iran, England, France, Germany, the Philippines,[/del] Indonesia. It’s a complete misinterpretation of Mohammad’s methods of dealing with blasphemy.
There are a couple of Muslims in my office. They haven’t detonated even once.
The majority of Muslims I’ve met and actually had conversations with have been moderates, and completely capable of co-existing peacefully. Extremists of any ilk are dangerous, as they believe anyone who doesn’t follow their credo doesn’t have any rights. Conflating one group with the other is sheer bigotry.
