Well, the overwhelmingly Muslim Indonesian government does not appear to support the act as they are trying the culprits for murder.
I note that the Bebe also reports that the killings “shocked” Indonesia (no mention of cheering by Muslims in front of outraged Christians). It also is noted that the presumed cause of the attack was a reprisal for a number of Muslims killed at a school by a mob of Christians.
So it appears that we basically have random idiots of different religions perpetrating violent acts so that the appropriate people on each side can get worked up to the point of hating each other as groups rather than hating the idiots.
Almost, but you left out the part where the random idiots of a different religion were perpetrating violent acts in the name of said religion. I think that’s an important part of this.

While that specific action is barbarous, it should be noted that their “retaliation” appears to have been for attacks (including an attack on a Muslim school) that left 70 dead. Had Hasanuddin and his buddies been successful in their actual plan, it would have resulted in six deaths.

Intolerance isn’t what motivates me. I just felt so exasperated after more than 20 years of close engagement with the Islamic world.
