Islands between Prince Edward Islands and Crozet Islands?

So I’m fiddling around with Google Earth and I see what looks like some green at around 46’S, 42.3’E. It doesn’t have the typical neon yellow border, and I can’t seem to find it named on any map. Have I discovered some new territory that I can claim, conquer, and name after myself?

Probably not. If that’s between South African and French-Antarctic territories, the area is probably already included in either of the two economic zones.

Always worth a shot, though – head out there, possibly spark off something like the Falklands War …

So, you think you’ve found a new island? Looks like ol’ H.P. got the wrong ocean

 After much searching and study, I have no idea.

Bump. C’mon guys, I wanna know what’s out there!!!

Perhaps it’s Thompson Island and the location given for previous sightings were a bit off…

Checked various charts and books at work, and there doesn’t seem to be any islands between Marion Island (Prince Edward Islands) and the Iles Crozet. Water depths in the area are 6000-7000 ft or so. The Sailing Directions published by the Defense Mapping Agency, which typically describe every landmass visually for mariners, in addition to detailed information about ports, have no mention of any land between 38E and 50E or so.

So, unless there is a conspiracy cover-up, there is no land in that area.

I’m sure Viscera is right, but this is a wiki link for Thompson Island , which I referred to above… the other site it links to doesn’t say much more; I think some books I have at home have a little more about it but a quick seach failed.
