To me it was a really well made kids film, though not on par with the best Pixar output (or Kubo And Two Strings). But no more than that.
Interesting. I don’t think I would have described that as being a kids’ film at all.
I mean its basically a Disney story line
A kid that goes on a quest to find their lost dog, is befriended by a group of stray dogs, and after a series of adventures (pursued by a bunch of baddies with robot dogs), ends up being reunited with their lost dog, and overthrowing the evil mayor and being appointed mayor in his place along with his friends.
Though there is a murder by poisoning and serious head wound thrown in that aren’t exact Disney
The Odyssey also fits that with a little massaging.
Saw it a while ago and liked it quite a bit. I’m not a Wes Anderson fan other than Mr. Fox (which I adore) but if there’s one thing he can do is get a helluva performance out of his voice actors.
The music is phenomenal too, definitely deserves its Oscar nom.
Don’t forget the starved dead dog. That’s pretty traumatizing for some.
And the maiming.
