Any titles of books on good management techniques come to mind? Looking for well-known titles that most CEOs would be familiar with.
Thanks, Jinx
The original, perhaps, of this genre was***“In Search of Excellence.”*** by ** Peters/Waterman**. The book is now 20 years old and “dated” I would imagine, but in it’s day it was highly regarded, and a great read. (I’d be careful of his later work; some CEOs have come to believe that Peters has lost his mind and become a business pop psychologist and caricature)
Another well known book is "Built to Last" (Collins/Porris) (great read)
Most books by GE or GE alumni have done pretty well. **Jack Welch,& Larry Bossidy **are a couple that have been noteworthy. (although I’m pretty sick of the CEO As Rock Star genre, and I suspect many CEOs might feel the same. I don’t know.)
After re-reading the OP, maybe I misunderstood.
If you’re looking for “techniques” you may be looking for more specific books for logistics, finance, time and motion etc etc. They would not only be more specific, but more academic in nature.
The books I cited are more general/global in nature.
An outstanding publication for general management study, technique and research is The Harvard Business Review.
No expert here. I’ve read maybe a dozen. The most insightful, and backed up by actual data, was First Break all the Rules. JMO.
Thanks, Raindog…you’re first post was right-on!
