I ended up with a CD image file that could only be opened by Isobuster. So I downloaded it.
It’s crap  It can neither mount nor burn images. I had to extract the files onto my HD and then burn them using Nero.
That’s all.

I thought “Isobuster” was a really bad typo for “lobster.” I immediately rushed into the thread to passionately defend my favorite seafood.
lol
And to add insult to injury, the game (The Dig) won’t work. I just wasted a CD
Have you tried burning it with Alcohol 120%? It handles a rather obnoxiously large number of formats, is easy to use and the demo’s free for…a month, I believe? Every time I’ve run across an oddball disk image format, A120%'s come through for me.
Dammit. Just reread the thread. You did get it to burn. Disregard my previous comment. Is it a dos thing that prevents it from running? You might be able to trick ScummVM into playing it–I think it supports The Dig.
I have Alcohol 120. It rocks. But it couldn’t open that specific image. I opened the CUE sheet with a text editor and it said in the comments that only ISOBuster can handle it.
And I used DOSBox. The game ran just once, but now it crashes. I don’t know what’s wrong with it
Try this: ScummVM
The web site says it is, in fact, compatible with The Dig (and getting more compatible with each release). You’ll be able to run the game without fiddling around with DosBox. You’ll also be able to turn on all that fancy graphics interpolation that the kids these days seem to dig.
Thanks! I’ll give it a try
So you think freeeware, which is helping you extract files from a file I suspect you obtained from P2P sucks.
I know you said this was lame but sheesh.
slortar, thanks! It works with ScummVM
I am pitting a program that is supposedly the best in handling image files.
And I did download the game from a torrent. Should I search the web for hours in order to locate and buy a god-forsaken copy of a 10 year old computer game that is not guaranteed to play on my computer instead? :dubious:
It’s just that pitting freeware, which you didn’t pay for, which you use to crack open a file with copyrighted material, which you obtained illegally… It just seems petty, that’s all.
Threadcrapping aside, I’m glad it works out for you. It’s a great program. While you’re at it, see if you can find some of the other games it supports–they’re worth the effort, particularly the Fate of Atlantis and the Monkey Island games.
I believe you can download Beneath a Steel Sky from their web site–their publisher has given them the thumb’s up and released it into the public domain. It’s pretty cool.
Is this the “you didn’t vote, so you don’t deserve to complain about the government” type of argument? :dubious:
