I’m pretty sure I’ve heard the ooh-ooh intro in a TV ad and I never knew where it came from until running across the video myself.
It was used in a charming eToys ad campaign in 2000 - there was this ad, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TRy_DBRL36w, and another where a mom got a firefly box for her son. Can’t find the firefly ad on YouTube, though.
One of my favorites is his “Ahi Wela/Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star.” Both songs use the same melody. He sings a verse of “Ahi Wela” in Hawaiian , then “Twinkle Twinkle” in Englisn, then “Twinkle Twinkle” in Hawaiian. Lovely.
I remember watching the rather boring movie “Meet Joe Black” (1998) when it came out on DVD and left the credits rolling while cleaning up the living room. “SWOTR/WWAW” was the song playing and I immediately bought the soundtrack (which was instrumental except that one). I scooped up all the rest of his music I could find after that. (If you can, avoid the full band version of that song, it just isn’t that good in comparison).
I have just about all of his music, and while this rendition of SOTR is beautiful, I can’t help but bug over the messed-up lyrics. Oh, well.
I think I’ll put on Facing Future and go paint.
One on of his albums he talks about part of his weight issue came from some problem with his kidneys.
I have probably three of his albums, and love each and every song.
