Israeli soldier convicted of Manslaughter in military court

Basically, manslaughter is seen as murder but with some extenuating circumstances. The Hebrew term for it is Hariga, or “Killing”, as distinguished from Retzach, or “Murder” (and incidentally, it’s the latter word that’s used in the Ten Commandments, not the former).

As an aside, while I’ve lived in Israel most of my life, I spend much of my early childhood in the United States, and a couple more years there as an adult.

Thanks, Alessan.

Of course, you should take anything I say with a grain of salt - I know more about U.S. criminal law than Israeli criminal law. After all, it’s not like I have any personal experience with the subject, and all the cop shows I watch on TV are American.
