Possible, but it would be unusual. Most people don’t graduate from law school until age 26 or 27, especially if they take a year off to play video games. No law school would put you on the faculty within a year of graduation, unless you excelled to a remarkable degree. I’m not getting Felix Frankfurter vibes from you.
Perhaps you taught Public International Law at an undergraduate institution, although I’d wager that not many offer such a specialized course. And, I would also think they would want someone with a little experience in the field.
Keeeeeeep telling yourself that. BTW, what do you think of the polls that show “non-religious” is the fastest growing belief system in the world? I know we’ve hit a nerve because you’re ignoring those posts.
Guys. There are literally thousands of examples of theists throwing stones - not just back at atheists but at other theists too. It’s definitely more than amount of stones atheists have thrown back (if any). I’m sure we can each come up with one example and ask for a rebuttal in kind from Professor Pchaos.
1 - This would probably hit close to home seeing as how it involves Public International Law directly.
is a case written by a British lawyer about how the Vatican abuses its position as a sovereign state to shelter priest-pedophiles from legal repercussions. This is not a part of any truth I would want to associate myself with.
Does god help you pick a restaurant? Because, you’re right, that can be difficult. Perhaps I shall start praying for guidance. Oh, that underlined part; color me skeptical.
Procrustus, I’m not here to impress you. I like the way you think. From what I gather, atheism is simply your outlook on life. That I can accept.
It doesn’t seem like other atheists feel that way. They somehow think that everybody especially the theists would benefit from coming to the conclusion that there’s “no God.”
People would be crazy to come to that conclusion when atheists have no agenda, no organization and even no desire to go in that direction.
Um, OBVIOUSLY, this one time he picked a restaurant and everyone else was like, “Fine, whatever.” As an atheist, I know I’ve never been able to match that level of accomplishment.
What do you think of the fact that “non-religious” is the fastest growing belief group in the world? I think it’s kind of sad that your own self-esteem is so low that you have to lie to yourself about what other people believe and do to make you feel better about yourself.
We still go to work and are politically active and stuff, you know. What, exactly, is the benefit of having an “agenda” centered around pleasing a fictional character?
Well, he’s still alive although he’s apparently too stupid to breathe. I’m not atheist, so I obviously disagree with the atheists on this board. Yet I don’t think any of the atheists on this board is a complete idiot. Even if I did–which I don’t–I’d be very hard pressed to consider their idiocy to be on the unmatched scale of pchaos’. Oh, wait. That’s two achievements for him. He’s on a roll!
Sorry to disappoint you, but I actually*** do*** think theists would benefit from coming to the conclusion that there are no gods. I just don’t care enough to try to get them there. And, given their world view that “belief” trumps “facts,” I’m not sure how you’d even go about it.
I suspect many more know it than are willing to admit. On the very few occasions when I have discussed religion with someone who professes to be some sort of Christian, they end up being more what we would call “spiritual” than actually believing Jesus was the son of god and came back to life and all that crap. They like the fellowship of the church, but don’t honestly believe the hoo ha.
Atheists have all kinds of agendas. Our agendas are just unrelated to being atheists, so we’re all over the map. I would like Universal Health Care, sentencing reform, and an effective plan to mitigate climate change. Other atheists have different agendas. Like all people who don’t collect stamps, we don’t necessarily have anything else in common. Hard to organize non-stamp collectors into a movement.
True - hell, half he time the wife and I can’t figure out where to eat , and we’re only a group of 2 - I’d hate to figure it out on a group larger than that.
OK, let’s play pretend. I know you can do that since you’ve been doing it in every post you’ve made so far.
Let’s say all atheists, all across the world, organize into one, single, monolithic church-like organization. They all agree with each other completely on the philosophy that you’ve suggested they come up with, as you postulate they should, since they’re all atheists and all.
That “church” would be, by far, the largest single church in the entire world. Approximately one in four people in the entire world would belong to it. All other major religions are divided into denominations, many fighting amongst themselves as to which is the true Islam or the true Christianity etc. Atheists, as part of such a huge organization, would wield unstoppable political and socioeconomic power to push forth any legislation in any country they want. We would absolutely rule the world.
As a God-believing person, is that what you want to see?
That’s irrelevant so far as Simple Linctus is concerned. Regardless of whether Pchaos acted wisely, Simple Linctus should not have taken this dispute off-board into the real world.
The appropriate response is to report to a mod or open a thread asking Pchaos to be disciplined or banned, not to invade Pchaos’s life.
I’m in the process of starting a new business and the business isn’t even off the ground yet and I’ve already gone 3 software guys before finding a 4th that looks like he’s the right guy. It’s difficult to get people on the same page.
The churches also have the same problem. It’s hard to get people to make changes to the Bible. It’s hard to get people in the pews. It’s hard to even have a church Christmas party. It’s not as easy as it looks.
and you’re suggesting changes need to be made to the ‘bible’ ? are you not aware that it was written and complied at the hand of the ‘Holy Spirit’ or GOD him/herself?
What do you think of the fact that “non-religious” is the fastest growing belief group in the world? It can’t be THAT hard if us unorganized atheists can do it, right?
