The other implication he keeps making there is that atheists are not ethical people.
He refused to define what he meant by “truth” in that context as well.

Maybe you were the only one who read the links. I certainly didn’t read them. If you “thought it was crazy,” you should have reported your concerns to the moderators and let them handle it. That’s what I would have done.
And even if someone voluntarily exposes his or her real identity, it’s still creepy to use that information to contact that person in the real world uninvited. On this board we have created a community for discussion that by default is separate from our personal and business lives. You should take a step into “real” contact only when you are specifically invited to do so.
I come here to engage in discussions and expect them to stay here unless I decide otherwise in advance. I don’t expect to be called to account for what I say here anywhere else except here. And if I decline to engage or respond, then that should be accepted, without someone chasing me down.
Frankly, I’m more upset by what you have done to pchaos than the trolling that pchaos is done.
How about YOU do the hard work of building something new? You said you’re too busy to come up with your own philosophy, so you cherry picked from the New Testament, and you’re slamming atheists for not doing something you’re too lazy to do yourself? While ignoring all the examples you’ve been given of atheists with their own philosophies, which they’ve come up with themselves, because there is no singular atheist philosophy?
Jeebus Christ, your whole argument boils down to “I know you are but what am I?” No wonder you suck as a lawyer.
Really, the only proper test is time and size. A true religion and in my mind it is possible to have more than one because it is possible to have parts of truth instead of all of it.
The religion must survive and prosper and it must grow in time.
If a religion merely has a charismatic leader, then the religion would only be truly tested when the leader is gone.
Atheism if it had the truth would have grown, instead what has happened is that they still have nothing to offer and they are proud of it.
Ideally every poster on here could claim to be a brain surgeon and we all ought to honor those claims as the gospel truth until or unless one recommends home brain surgery via hand-cranked auger.
Maybe you missed the repeated posts wherein pchaos claimed to be a lawyer. He even offered free (bad) legal advice in a very touchy discussion about child pornography/pedophilia. His grasp on logic, research, grammar, and debate is nil, which caused several people to question his vocation. By making preposterous claims about his profession and assigning his online persona his real name he unfortunately offers himself up for vetting. It’s totally classless to go after him, but it’s unsurprising considering the level of trolling and shit-stirring this guy is responsible for.
The other lawyers on this board provide a valuable resource when they offer cites, direct readers to research, and argue coherently. I appreciate having their trustworthy input on this board in the same way I appreciate the scientists, statisticians, healthcare workers, etc. I’d like to continue to have access to these valuable human resources and I don’t appreciate this guy muddying an entire hard-won profession because he’s bored and lonely. Not saying he had it coming; but I am saying that he’s getting precisely the level of attention he’s trolling for.
Fallacy here - beyond the fact you keep repeating the same old crap -
Is that ‘evil’ religions can easily stomp out the beginnings of a new truth - or subvert it to thier own gain - such that this test of 'longevity and size" is not conclusive.
IOW - you accept it as the ‘one true religion’ as a logical fallacy to begin with.
So, growth is a sign that a belief system is thriving, huh? Okaaaaaaay…
Read this. Then go ahead and ignore it, and keep talking about how atheists aren’t doing anything, because the truth is not convenient to your world view. I know we’ve struck a nerve, because you keep talking and talking, but not responding to arguments that actually refute your statements.
Goodness but pchaos is dumb.
There is a bit of trolling involved for sure, but there’s no way in heaven or hell any troll can fake stupidity of this level for so long.
What percentage of his posts are simple trolling vs massive stupidity is a debate for others. It’s too banal for me.
ETA: And I see he’s brought his miniscule intellect to the concept of marriage in this thread. Same MO. Some hints of trolling and massive amounts of the vapid and stupid.
Yes, pchaos isn’t acting like someone who entered or attended a highly competitive law school. He is reminding me of professionals who suffered career setbacks due to substance abuse, mental illness, or traumatic brain injury.
Do you actually believe that truth is a popularity contest, that it can be voted into existence?
You mean, I’m not stuck up enough. That’s true I’m not like a number of atheists on this Board who are stuck up enough. I attribute this to a more realistic view of life. At one time I was more stuck up. At the age of 28 I was already teaching Public International Law.
But I didn’t want that kind of life. I didn’t want to be stuck in some State Department law library in D.C., I wasn’t interested. Besides I still didn’t know what 5% of the words were.
Are you admitting that god isn’t ethical, then? We went around and around for pages about the god’s refusal to explain what he’s doing and why he’s doing it.
I’ll say this for you: if you’re not a troll, you have a lot of nerve. You’ve been dismissing and misunderstanding atheists for 500 posts and when you get frustrated you resort to the kind of deliberate bullshit I just linked to, and then when they get tired of it and tell you what they think of your behavior you whine that they’re throwing stones at your very heart and soul? On behalf of the Internet, I’d like to say “WAAAAAAH!!”
You forgot “murder nonbelievers, steal their stuff, and rape their women.” That’s been part of the path to success for a lot of religions and it’s pretty important.
You said something without even Googling it first. What a shock.
Yes, who wants a life of accomplishment and world travel? That’s for nerds.
I assume this was supposed to be “50%.”
I assumed 95%
I’m a theist, but after this thread, I may never call myself that again.
pchaos, if there’s any chance you’re serious about your “beliefs”*, you’d do your case more good by just shutting up.
*[sigh] *Look, I know your mom said you could be on our team, but we already have a deep right fielder. Here’s a dollar-- go get a root beer and sit in the stands.
And I assumed it meant that he had yet to reach 5%.
I thought it was 95%
Do you mean he’s nowhere close to as ignorant as us?
It *is *creepy, but I would have thought that he’d know better. Your name and contact information are easily searchable, so if you don’t want to be found: (1) don’t tell people you’re a lawyer, or (2) don’t use such a blindingly obvious handle.
I doubt the person you found is me. If you find me, you will find that my stated achievements are even better than what I’ve stated. The atheists on this board will never achieve half of what I’ve achieved in my lifetime. And as far as I’m concerned my second career will even be better.
It’s a good thing the atheists don’t offer anything, they can’t even decide on a restaurant to go to.
I think I disagree, so I’ve startd a thread in About This Message Board on this topic.
