It is implausible that pchaos is a lawyer and he should stop claiming to be one

I’m reminded of the Alan Trolling Test: If the responses produced during an interaction are indistinguishable from those a troll would produce, it’s time to pull the plug.

Hmmmm…I see you are being polite. Tell me what you really think.

$400/hour is the high end of the range of civil defense fees in a number of states (and not just tiny ones).

Are you an attorney? Remember, you would be a fool to answer that, we have a tough crowd here.

???

Here in NC, we’re paying 700 for the important stuff. When I worked for a firm in Ohio, our partners billed 600 - as a summer intern they we’re billing me out at 150 (that was like 7 years ago).

My guess is that you practice in Charlotte, you make a lot more bucks in the big cities. In CA in order to make real money, you need to be in entertainment law practicing in LA.

another change to your backstory - and it directly contradicts a different post where you state that people ‘over 21’ don’t change their beliefs. (assuming you’re not actually 12)

Give me a break, I’m approaching retirement age and I’m getting senile.

No.

For defense work? Or for contingency stuff?

You planning on advertising here? You realize you could be selling ice water in hell and no one here would buy it - right?

In fact - we would (likely) ORGANIZE to make sure no one buys your crap - anywhere - you may want to re-consider your decision to announce it here.

nope - you’re not ‘getting’ senile - you’re a fucking troll that can’t keep his story straight.

You are a friendly guy. Don’t practice law, with an attitude like that, the experienced attorneys will cut you up into little pieces.

Speaking of which, what is your area of practice? I couldn’t care less what the city is.

Come to think of it, I’m starting to think the city you believe in which you practice is Hooterville.

Et tu Brutus? Come on guys, it’s early here in Fremont, CA. I thought we were having a friendly conversation.

I’m not an attorney - the attorney’s I’ve spoken with have been reasonably impressed with my limited knowledge and how I phrase my arguments - and I have never lost a case that I have been involved in.

YOu can take your ‘advice’ and stick it with the rest of your ‘knowledge’.

Okay, you have a legitimate beef. I suppose you’re talking about the advice I gave to that guy in Canada. I do apologize, it really was off the cuff. To be frank, I thought the guy needed the help of a psychologist much more than the help of an attorney.

Now you’re ‘Frank’ ? is this another metaphor?

Had you said that in the thread - “IMHO, I think you need help of ‘a’ more than ‘b’” and not what you did post - which showed you had zero reading comprehension or had not read the thread and then you offered such obviously ‘bad’ advice (as an attorney, no less) based on the OP itself - we wouldn’t be here -

My dad used to tell me -

“Put your brain in gear before you put your mouth in motion” - perhaps you should check that clutch or your transmission is faulty.

And since you have yet to show that you have any intention of changing your demeanor or your posting habits - you’re still a troll and the apology is only conditionally accepted - perhaps you should go back to that thread and apologize for your post as a sign of contrition…

That depends.

Look, I hate to remind you guys. I’m sure you all take this MB seriously, but it is still a MB. I don’t even know why a guy in Canada would go to a MB for advice on such a sensitive issue. I know that I wouldn’t. On SDMB you’re going to get all kinds of sarcastic advice. Right Czarcasm?

If you want a friendly conversation, you’ll answer the question put to you: In what area of law do you practice?
