It’s (going to be) a girl!!

We just had an ultrasound and found out that in about 5 months we’re going to have a baby girl! Woo hoo!

Feel free to join in the excitement, but I am also looking for advice. Our son James will be about 2 ½ when Baby Abby joins us, and we are looking at every hint people are giving about how to help him learn to be a big brother.

I can’t give you any advice about your son, but as a woman who is about to have a baby girl, let me tell you:

Kiss Your Registry Wishes Goodbye.

People will buy you little pink clothes and only little pink clothes. And lots of them. Lots. And lots. Of little pink clothes.

You’re on your own for diapers etc, champ.

Friends of mine lied through theeir teeth and said they didn’t know boy/girl, painted the nursery celadon green, with dark green rug and drapes and put a bunch of generic winnie the pooh stuff on the walls. Told people that they decorated in green so please give green and yellow and white so it wouldn’t clash and it oddly worked. They got lots of gender neutral stuff [I got them a great mobile, not a play with kind but a hang in the corner to be looked at kind of a big [green frog](http://images.delphiglass.com/image_new/200720.jpg) dangling lily pads, cat tail heads and smaller frogs in nonglass stained glass]

Congratulations! Abby is a great name. Here’s hoping your sleepless nights are few and far between. And don’t forget to post pictures when she’s here.
