It’s March 4, what’s with the flag waving?

I live in the Twin Cities. All day it’s been flags on bridges and people in their yards or on street corners waving flags at traffic.

Some QANON thing? Did Trump do something?

This is what happens when people get nostalgic for shitty ‘Seventies movies. I blame Tarantino.

The fascists are playing dress up.

When you have a flag to wave, you gotta march fourth.

Thank you, I couldn’t find that. It’s not often you stump Google, but I guess with a question like, ‘why are people randomly waving flags today?’ even Google is like, ‘dunno, bro’.

It sounds like your local media decided to ignore them.

Wasn’t March 4th (one of?) the dates forecast for Trump’s resurrection and magical return to office or something of that sort?

Yes, but that was last year. The reasoning (if you want to call it that) had to do with the fact that March 4 was the original inauguration date. It was changed by the 20th Amendment in 1933.

Oh yes. I thought there must be some reason why it rang a bell.

Let’s keep the political pot-shots out of FQ, please.

I dunno f this is borderline or over-the-line for here, and, if so, nuke it, but there’s a certain irony in seeing an industry hugely depended on government subsidy bemoaning the government.

They should have been more clear about this.
When I saw people on Twin Cities bridges with flags, I thought it was patriotic Americans protesting against the Russians for their invasion. When most of them are Trump followers, so Republicans, supporting the Russians. (Joe McCarthy must be spinning in his grave!)
