It took a while, but Community has become one of my favorite shows.

I’m horrible at watching TV while it airs, so I didn’t pick up on it a couple of years ago.

This last fall RandMcWifey* and I got the first disk from Netflix and watched the first seven episodes, which bored the crap out of me. Ok, it wasn’t that boring, but I only half-watched it with half of my attention. After the disk I decided I didn’t care for the show in the least bit.

About a week ago the wife started watching it on Hulu. I’d half-listen but it didn’t grab my attention, until she got to episode 13, “Investigative Journalism” with Jack Black. I don’t know why but that episode cracked me up. From then on, ever episode I saw made me laugh.

Within two days I caught all the way up to season 3, which I’m going to start tonight.

So yeah, hopefully the show stays on a few more years.

*I’m sorry. It won’t happen again.

Yes! A convert! Spread the word–tell your friends to watch. Let them know about the greatness of Annie’s Boobs and Annie’s boobs.

Six seasons and a movie

I think I yelled at you to watch it. I want credit.

Yeah, the show started as a perfectly servicable, ordinary sitcom. I watched it mostly for Joel McHale. Somehow it turned into an incredible running commentary on pop culture. I’m not sure how Dan Harmon pulled it off, really.

I can’t remember why specifically, but I think I initially chose to watch it in lieu of TBBT (which I despised at the time, and did it out of spite). I liked it immediately. I think NBC was premiering another show (after the office?) that I wanted to watch the same day and decided to give them both an even shot.

Specifically: The halloween episodes (the first two), the four paintball episodes, and the ever-growing insanity of Senor Chang.

And it only gets better from there. Now it’s locked on my DVR.

Glad to see it’s renewed. There are only a few episodes I didn’t like, but those usually involved a lot of Chevy Chase (and occasionally too much Shirley).

But I do like Annie’s boobs. And Annies Boobs.

I wasn’t interested in the show until I heard the creator being interviewed by Marc Maron on his WTF podcast. Then I got the show via NetFlix and it became one of my favorites too.

I think it’s one of the few examples of anti-jumping-the-shark. It just keeps getting better.

We accept you we accept you, one of us one of us.

Same here. It was just one of those shows that all came out around the same time that I didn’t bother with. The wife would Tivo it during BBT and then watch it after I went to bed. But when she watched “Modern Warfare,” she woke me up and insisted I watch it right then.

Hooked. Totally and completely.

And Annie’s boobs.

Welcome to the fold.

For everyone who dislikes too much Chevy Chase in the show, what did you think of his contribution to the dungeons and dragons episode? That was easily his high point in the show, for me. The episode would have sucked without him.

Neil: This sword was one of a kind. It was forged by my ancestors.
Pierce: I hump it.

It hasn’t been renewed yet, though things look are looking better now than they did a few months ago.

And, see, I watch it *despite *Joel McHale. But I do watch it.

“Time… STOP!”

Now that’s how you cast a 9th-level spell. Next time I do that in a game, I’ll say it the exact same way.

I honestly can’t tell how I feel about Pierce. Sometimes I don’t understand why the group puts up with him, like in the D&D episode, but other times his insanity cracks me up. Like when he had an irrational hatred towards Vicki after she wouldn’t loan him a pencil.

Chevy/Pierce was great in the episode when he’s in the hospital and he’s fucking with the heads of the study group members. (the LeVar Burton episode)

I loved the look for dread on his face as soon as Jeff left the room after threatening him.
