It took the Flyers 7 games to beat the Leafs?

Is it me or was that a long and drawn out series. The Leafs were dominated for so long in that series, I was even surprised that they made it to “Seventh Heaven”.

I’m quite disappointed that the Leafs were eliminated but to the obvious, the Leafs sucked major balls that whole series.

Belfour wasn’t a real game-breaker.
Nolan was no where to be found.
Roberts was a non-factor.
Defence was shaky.
and a lot more to whine about.

But to the Philly fans out there… Cechmanek is junk, he’ll be your downfall vs the Senators. I’ll be rooting for the Canadian teams from here on in. Ottawa, hopefully the Canucks if they can pull off the comeback. And also the Avs, but they’ve been shakey.

I’m looking forward to the next round…

Sens vs Flyers
Devils vs Lightning

Stars vs Ducks
and

finally what i hope Avs vs Canucks.

Well, the Leafs will be having quite a big spring-cleaning. Quinn is going to be questioned. Nolan, and Roberts too. Gawd did Belfour stink it up. I thought he’d be better than that showing. Maybe it was the little run-in from Justin Williams in the first that shook him up… or so that’ll be his excuse. At least Belfour did a better job in getting his team further than CuJo. 3 more games hehe. One more game of gate receipts…

92.0 save percent is junk? Sure, it’s not as high as Giguere, but it ain’t bad. He had one really bad game or it would have been even higher.

Flyers are goin’ all the way this year.

Tie Domi is scum…nuff said…

Yes… if ‘all the way’ means to New Jersey ;).

“Yes… if ‘all the way’ means to New Jersey”

hehe that was a hilarious reply…i laughed and everthing
and im not even being scarastic!
kudos to you!

Allow me to be a jerk and rub in my sig to CuriousCanuck one more time…

Yeah, yeah. I was waiting for that, but I was expecting it in the other thread…

But, at least I live in Ottawa and have tickets to see the Sens play anyway  Go Sens!

(I’m never going to hear the end of this at work…being a Leafs fan in Ottawa does NOT make one popular)

And as for you HalberMensch242 you know not of what you speak. Fault the entire Leaf defense corps, fault the first two lines of the Leafs, but Domi gave his all out there, and played well. He is a class act off the ice (if you don’t believe me, do a bit of research) and on the ice, he is tough, and he has rounded out his game to have a bit of a scorer’s touch (15G, 30pts). I have an autographed Domi hat in front of me right now that I wear proudly, because you will not find a player on the ice that wears his heart on his sleeve as much as Domi does. Call him dirty, but you are misguided. He is TOUGH and I would not want to play against him, but he certainly would be welcomed on ANY NHL team I would wager.

It was too bad one of these teams had to lose. They played 28 periods to decide it. It was great hockey.

Go Sens.

Hey…i wasn’t saying anything about his talent…i’m just refering to his knack for dirty plays…remember the Niedermyer hit from 2001…how can you honestly say this guy is a class act after he does something like that?

I do agree with Madawc, concerning the Leafs this season.
I was rooting for them all the way, but I knew they wouldn’t quite make it.

Game 6 was great because the Leafs actually pulled together and were a real team, working together. A lot of times, it seems to me that they expect their team members to be there to pass to, or whatever, but they simply aren’t where they should be. (Am I making any sense?)

I’m rooting for the Canucks now. We’ll see how that goes.

That makes a lot of sense Harli. In game 6 they put the puck up the boards to a waiting winger and had a good transition game. In game 7 they seemed to be just throwing the puck down the ice at any Leaf player they caught a glimpse of. I heard either Cole, Neal, Cherry, or Maclean say that Belfour glared at Lumme after the first 2 goals. I would’ve rather seen Jackman or even Belak for their size and physical play go up against the giant Flyer forwards instead of Lumme, especially in game 7.

I’m glad the Flyers won, but yes, I am disturbed that it took the whole seven games to rub out Toronto. The Flyers should be better than that.

I’ve lost a lot of my interest in sports over the past several years, though the wish to see the Flyers win the Cup one more time remains pretty strong. But as I’ve been waiting since 1975, and had numerous disappointments–when they really did seem to be the best team in the league–I’ve pretty much resigned myself to their continual underachievement. I hope akennett is right, but I won’t hold my breath.

Okay, I’m back and just want to spell out that Cechmanek remark…

Did your goalie by any means carry the team and be a deciding factor in the Leafs series? As I saw it, he is flaky at best. He can rise to the occasion, or so you’ll hope, but we haven’t seen anything at all that resembles a strong backstop for them.

He was the main reason that the series went to a seventh game. The Leafs sucked SO hard that whole series yet they managed to get 3 games. Why? Simple, Cechmanek is junk.

He won’t by any means be a factor like Giguere, but who will? I was surprised that the Avs got eliminated too. Roy should’ve been a factor but old age is creeping up on the guy. I think Brodeur is THE factor that’ll take the Devils far. As for Philly, Cechmanek is junk, and always will be… just like my favourite whipping boy CuJo…

I agree, Checkmanek sucks, but I do have to give props to the Flyers fans, they really know how to handle someone showing up at First Union in a Devils jersey …

Wait a minute. If you have all the other pieces of the puzzle - an offense that can score (just wait till Amonte gets going) and the #1 defense in the regular season (okay, tied for #1) you don’t need your goalie to be a deciding factor. All you need is for him not to totally suck and blow the game for you. So, even if that’s all they get from Cechmanek, that’s all they need.

Cechmanek looked absolutely brutal against Ottawa in Game 1. He quite literally revived the Senators when the Sens were on the verge of being beaten. I am beginning to understand why the Flyers didn’t finish the Leafs off early.

Don’t begrudge the Leafs getting that far, though. Given the age of the team and the prospects they’ve traded away, those may be the last playoff games they play in many years. They’re going to collapse next year or the year after.

just to disprove you akennett… you can have all the offense in the world. If you don’t believe in your goaltender, which I believe the Philly players are at the verge of, you stand no chance to go far.

and as we all saw the Flyers crumble and die to the Sens, Cechmanek is junk. He can’t even keep his team in the game with a 2 goal lead. Come on, any decent backstop is capable of doing that. Well any good goalie in the NHL.

I hope the Flyers realize that making him their number one goalie is a real mistake. This guy just flops around and gets lucky. Get a goalie with some real skills and not luck and a good defence to boot.

Go Canucks and Sens.

Leafs still have a chance next year but ah well no wagering real money for me. Not worth the risk cuz it’s a real risk.

Well, I refrained from posting here last night, but I just can’t any longer. Looks like Roman was up to the challenge in game two. I’m not claiming that Cechmanek will go down as the greatest goalie in Flyers history, but y’all are selling him way too short.
