It was a dark and stormy morning - an MMP

Good morning everyone.

MIL seems to be doing better and they finally moved her off the progressive care unit into the surgical unit. She may get to come home this weekend, maybe even tomorrow. They’re supposed to give me and the hubby 24 hours notice. Her lungs are finally draining clear fluid, not bloody fluid, so this is good. Additionally, she sounded much, much stronger when I spoke to her on the phone yesterday. The hubby went to the hospital after work and spent a few hours with her.

The problem is, now that her friend has become ill, it’s up to me and hubby to take care of her for a few days. She doesn’t want to come to our house, she wants to go to her home. So, we’ll have to go there. If she doesn’t come home until Sunday, I’ll need to take Monday off work. I’d really rather not, I do have lots to do here, but MIL takes precedence.

If MIL comes home tomorrow, we’ll have to miss a friend’s celebratory party. She is a psychologist and finally earned the right to put “Dr” in front of her name. We were looking forward to seeing her, but again, MIL will have to take precedence.

kai, I’m sorry to hear that you’ve been ill. I hope your health starts improving soon.

Nothing much else going on, I’m tired is all. Still waiting for my sit down with the boss for my performance review. I like to get these things over with, rather than sweat out what the boss is going to say.

I took Magic back into the bedroom to sleep last night. Just as I was dozing off, he managed to jump on top of the lingere chest and knock the candles-set-in-rocks-and-crystals off onto the floor behind the chest - then fall back there himself. Since the chest is set catty-corner to the corner of the room he was stuck back there and much yowling and complaining ensued. ::giggle:: I moved the chest away from the wall and out he stalks, with many uncomplimentary remarks about me and my decorating schemes.

The Snakes bus was scheduled to leave the Civic Center at 10. I got down there about 9:30 to find out they had decided to pick up the guys at the apartments so they wouldn’t have to leave their cars unattended - there is some sort of football to-do in the adjoining Memorial Stadium. So I didn’t get to talk to Connor, altho his bag did make it onto the bus.

I’m meeting a friend at Rose Hill seafood for lunch. Stuffed shrimp - yum!

Hope everyone has a happy Friday, and feels better if they don’t already.

 I wanna go home and back to sleep
tonight a prospective tenant to coming to the house - I need to be awake so I can trust my instincts. But, damn, I need to get someone in there. Property tax time approacheth. He’s younger than I’d hoped - only 20 something. And has no credit report - he pays cash for everything - He’s agreed to give me 2 months security plus 1st month’s rent and he’s said his dad is willing to co-sign in an effort to assuage my hesitation. I’ll have to talk to me and see what the vibes say.

Busy. Busy busy busy.

Myndi and Rose I’ve got one of the G-5 Macs here at work, and in addition to a tremendouly ginormic hard drive, it’s networked to a couple of servers. I got plenty of room for stuff (most of my work files are located on the server) - I’ve got 2041 songs loaded on my harddrive for iTunes (8.79 GB). All from CDs that I brought in to work and copied over.

I like it a lot. In fact, when the computer at home goes kerplunk, it’s getting replaced with a Mac. I run the auto-update every week, it’s just with that X11 thing, I was more or less thinking out loud, just because it wasn’t boldly indentified as to what program it belonged to (as most of the updates are) and it’s size.

Spats You’re a little busy right now to obsess over a woman that’s not paying sufficient attention. So if you get a date, fine. If not, there’s more out there, and even if there isn’t, you’ve got a lot on your plate with grad school. So knock it off, get back to work, and put off obsessing over women you can’t get until you’ve graduated. (Been there, got the T-shirt from the therapist.)

**Sean ** - if you’re gonna splurge - get the new iMac with Parallels, the software that runs OSX and Windows in tandem as opposed to the one where you have to switch back and forth. And go for the BIG screen  That’s what my next one will be.

. . . there’s just something about tuna salad and corn chips . . .

That’s what I have here at work. For the most part, it’s a pleasure, but there are some Internet issues with some of the online services we use.

::drool:: That place is soooooo good! I am sooooooooooooo jealous Snakes!

Ugh. Friday, I made it…

Get Wells to all you sick folks, and please stand back over there, 'k?

No school today, its Innocent toot day, when all the teachers sit around and get taught, or something. So we’re here, but it’s quiet. I’m only here until about 2 or 3, then off to get downtown, meet the Wife for dinner, then to see Randy Newman. He’s at Orchestra hall tonight. I believe this’ll be the 5th time I’ve seen him, never there though, should be interesting.

There’s a follow up story today in the paper about my driver implicated in that big drug bust. She was, according to the cops, not an innocent bystander just picked up in the mess. She was actually making some deliveries herself.

“Hey kids sit down, I have to get you home, drop off this bus and go make the coke run for my boyfreind the drug kingpin!”

Both/and. There are a number of work sessions (which I’m looking forward to), and also some touring. I’m very willing to present if I also get to go to Angkor Wat!

I had PT this morning. Overall, I’ve learned to walk correctly, so that’s it. I also had a look at my back. Apparently, my right side is overdeveloped. But I’m left handed. Really left handed. So she gave me some stretches to do to loosen up my back. Since I’m well-endowed (the way she stumbled over that made me want to go, “Oh, my God! Where did those come from?”), my shoulders are pulled way forward. So I get to do the old shoulders back routine. Only, that puts the girls wayyyyyy out there. My bra size is “Daaaaaammmmmn! I didn’t know they made 'em that big.” And then, as we were finishing up the appointment, she popped out with this racist statement out of nowhere. I just sat there and stared at her, not being able to think of what to say. On the drive to work, I thought of all the comebacks I could have made, and then decided that open-mouthed shock probably sufficed, since she looked embarrassed and mumbled afterwards. She’s still young, so maybe it was out of ignorance, not malice, and perhaps there’s hope.

Eggnog lattes are here! Yummy! It’s the perfect day for them, too. Wet and windy, very autumnal. They have eggnog frappucinos, too. Why did they go and do that? Even better, why can’t I hate eggnog, like lots of people do?

Jah assuming this PT has a PT supervisor or some such, you might want to make mention of what she said. You seem to be being cool about it, but she needs to understand that remarks like that do not belong in the workplace. Anywhere else, for that matter, but the workplace is one place where that can be controlled. Ok, I’m off my soapbox now.

Oh and eggnog… just ICK!

Eeeeeeeeggggggggggggggggggggggggnnnnnnnooooooooogggggggggggggg!!!

Awright, who spiked rosie’s eggnog?

The mopheads and the rubber gasket thingys are GONE!

GONE! I say.

And so am I. I foresee several beerverages in my near future.

It’s that most glorious of days and it is closing in on 4:00 where upon I shall be departing! After work I must then trek north and attempt to purchase a nice winter coat as the one that I have now (a Swedish military coat from the 50’s) is no longer in any semblance of good shape. I also have been endeavoring for some time now to locate a local establishment wherein I may procure a nice fedora, though I am beginning to doubt that I shall succeed without the internet in this quest.

Crimeny Bus Man, that is not something you expect to find out about a coworker/employee. Plus, I envy your concert destination. I would love to see Randy Newman live sometime, but whenever I want to see a good concert it usually means a 4+ hour drive to Detroit.

Insightful statement of the day: Coming up with insightful things on demand is harder than I thought it would be… but I will persevere!

FREEEEEEEEEEEZE warning tonight! BRRRRRRRRRR!!

I brought in my spider plants and the impatiens that I never got around to planting. Maybe I can keep them happy till spring? I also installed the storm windows in the front doors and the garage people door, and I closed the window in the garage. Got one more storm window in the little bedroom to pop into place, and we’ll be all winterized. Yay.

**FCD ** is celebrating his b-day stuck in traffic. When he gets home, he’ll decide if he wants to go out for dinner or not. I may be making a pizza run. But I did order his B-day present - his captain’s ring. He’ll get it in about 2 weeks. His own fault for not telling me his ring size sooner. (13, if you’re interested)

So there may or may not be a celebratory dinner, but there will be cake, so there’s that.

As I said earlier - TGIF!!!

So are you a Hollander or Kalamazooer?

It’s about 5 weeks to the wedding and Mom doesn’t have anything to wear. Where does one find festive, Christmas-y pant suits for 60-something women? Everything at the major stores is for 20-somethings. Or is plain black and not very festive. She’s not looking for a mother-of-the-bride dress; they tend to be as hideous as bridesmaids’ dresses. Just a festive Christmas thing that she could wear to other holiday events/parties. Ideas??

Usually, JC Penney has stuff like this. Has she looked there?

Yeah… the stuff they have is either job interview type or only for the tall, skinny type, which Mom really isn’t. :frowning:
