Italian government changes?

I saw a little snippet on the CNN website about what sounded like some uphevals in the Italian governmental structure. Knowing absolutely nothing about the government there as it stands, could someone walk me through what’s going on there now?

One thing that can confuse Americans reading this sort of article is that what many European contries call a “government” is more or less what we would call an “administration”. Thus, when the French or Italian government “falls”, you don’t have mobs storming the Bastille, etc., you just have people getting ready for the next election.

New government in Italy? Must be monday…

Looks like it’s all ok now
ROME (Reuters) - Italy’s political crisis appeared over on Monday after the rebel Union of Christian Democrats party (UDC) said it had reached a deal with Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi to return to government.

Senior UDC member Rocco Buttiglione said Berlusconi had agreed to resign and then form a new government, despite the prime minister’s reluctance to avoid formal dissolution of his four-year-old administration.
