Itching freckle

I’ve already scheduled a dermatologist appointment, so I’m not seeking medical advice, just curious whether others have experienced this.

I have a little brownish freckle on my forearm, only about 1/16 inch, and slightly raised. There always have been other freckles here and there, but about a month to six weeks ago this one started to itch. Sometimes it itches a lot. It doesn’t seem to be an insect bite, it wouldn’t have lasted this long, right? It’s not changing color or anything, just itching.

Nobody I know has ever had anything like this. How about you guys?

It could just be a dermatofibroma, which is a slightly raised spot caused by an accumulation of fibroblasts (soft tissue cells under the skin). They can be removed if they become itchy or annoying. I had one. Some called it a mole, some called it a freckle, but it was actually neither. It stopped bugging me after a while.
