…'cause I can’t find mine. I’ve had insomnia all this week and I know it’s from work stress (I work at a University and we’re preparing for when the 5,000 new students get dumped on us on Monday).
I was a walking zombie all day yesterday and I thought, “I’m gonna sleep well tonight!”
Yeah, right - hit the sack at 11:30, woke up just after 2. Can’t get back to sleep. At least here I can do something while not sleeping.
Ah insomnia, I know you too well. I’ve struggled with it for as long as I can remember, however it has been better as of late. However, that means when it hits, it isn’t something I’m used to, but rather something slightly unfamiliar and therefore concerning. I had it the night before last, finding it near impossible to sleep and then waking up every hour with threads of unsettling dreams clogging my mind.

It’s only 1:18am here now, but I’ll be up until the wee hours. Probably here or surfing around. Or housecleaning a little bit. I get the bulk of my chores done in the middle of the night.
Incidentally, the past couple of nights I’ve been sleeping, so there must be some shit in the cosmic balance, or something. I’m back on my normal night-owl schedule, now, though. Always good to have company.
A tip a friend gave me which has worked is to get up and do something quiet like read a book - or the SDMB - because you’re trying too hard to get to sleep.
