It's a fucking tower block you wankers.

I thought we abandoned these in the 70s? What the fuck are they thinking? In the short term this won’t affect me since it’s the other end of the city but there’s a lot of creeping crappy development going on round here lately.

Gotta do some work now, maybe follow up in a bit.

I don’t get it. Looks like apartments from the 1970’s.

Bwuh? Looks like your standard Toronto condo, only shorter. Not bad looking, either.

(But what’s it doing in Englannnddd…???)

I second that it totally looks 70s – but what a steal! :dubious:

Yeah, that’s his point. British inner-cities are full of buildings that look just like that, and yet somebody is trying to charge 365,000 pounds for the privelege of living in another one.

Of course, basically all property developers in the Home Counties are idiots.

Uh, what’s the rant again? Oh, I see Really Not All That Bright snuck in a post while I was typing. Huh, doesn’t seem like a big deal to me.

But they’re being built now. Most of Milton Keynes was built in the 70’s but it was all low-rise no more that three or four stories, lots of open space, parks and lots and lots of trees, many of which are now being cut down to make way for more houses in dense develoments. Or fucking tower blocks. I don’t like the look of the way things are going here. Time to move back to London maybe :frowning:

You know, I’ve shopped for apartments before. What I looked at is location, size, layout, access, workmanship, location, neighbors, ventilation, view and location.

How the building actually looks on the outside? Who cares?

It’s hard to tell from the picture, but those building look like 6 or 7 stories to me. Since Milton Keynes has grown a lot since the 1970s, that might be reasonable in the city centre now, rather than spreading to take over more countryside.

Five storeys isn’t “tower” by normal standards.

Also, those aren’t 70s-looking, they’re ironic 70s looking! They’re so now darlings! They’re all the rage this season. Get one before they go out of fashion again.

You trying to tell me that’s not a model set up next someone’s model railroad?

Message Board Ninja strikes again!

Bwahaha!

Dispite what the blurb says it’s a way off from the (current) centre. And in fact most of the new development is spreading out east and west over farms and stuff. The existing centre is pretty much fully built over already, which is why they’re resorting to building upwards. Until recently policy in MK was to not build higher than the tallest tree. The tossers in charge now (English Partnerships) are allowing and actually planning stuff that belongs in 1970s Croydon. And fucking traffic lights! (we like our roundabouts dammit).

By MK standards it is. And these aren’t the tallest new buildings, just some of the ugliest. Sorry I couldn’t find a better picture, the cover of last weeks paper was an ad’ for those flats (excuse me, apartments) and basically the place looks like a prison. Google up vizion Milton Keynes and you may find something more representative.

Also, for anyone that cares they’re Barratt Homes.

OK, that looks a bit more tower-blocky. I think if they looked like that, they’d be pretty cool. The other graphic, they look shite. Have they been built yet? If they’re these, then they look kinda modern and continental.

They are in the process of being built, the Google Earth co-ords are

View from North-ish.

Look like tower blocks to me.

  • does vbcode do degrees? And how do you enter them in GE?

Isn’t building up the environmentally better way to go? Rather than expanding out, with all the additional infrastructure and transportation costs?

Looking at the pictures, I’m going to have to say that they are clearly asking too much. Those buildings can’t be more than 20 centimeters high.

And for that money I’d want actual gardens instead of a Subbuteo pitch.

Where are the rotating knives?
