Of course it does. Being trained to attack other dogs (and humans in a pinch and that whole pack thingy) or things BIGGER than itself (like bulls or humans) and to NOT give the fuck up and having a jaw structure that helps it no let go is IMO obviously more dangerous than being trained and breed to retrieve stuff (but not eat it) or go after fast furry creatures or point at shit or herd shit or go after varmits in holes.

When pit fighting was legal and “popular”, pits were trained to fight only other dogs, only on command, and to stop as soon as told to. Any breeding that would alter behavior (which is highly debatable) would have made them more disciplined and better at following commands, not more vicious and wild. Breeding for form does produce a powerful dog, but there are lots of powerful dogs.
Shepherds were not just bred and trained to move flocks about, they were also used to protect them from predators, both wild and human. Bloodhounds were bred and trained to hunt and attack human beings. St. Bernard’s are of course gentle creatures that would never attack someone.
I am all for requiring a licence to own a dog. Maybe it shouldn’t be too hard to get one, but I see too many people with dogs that have no idea what they are doing. Fortunately, dogs are usually very tolerant, so you can get away with quite a bit of mistreatment without creating a dangerous dog, but it’s still not cool to the dog.
You are talking about training there. Of course if you train a dog to attack other dogs or humans, it is going to be inclined to attack other dogs and humans. That has NOTHING to do with the breed. The “jaw structure” bit is a complete fabrication that keeps floating about no matter how many times it is debunked. There is no difference in the jaw structure of a pit than any other dog.
FTR, I have gotten more bites from dachshunds than any other breed, close second would be Jack Russels, then chihuahuas.

If they actually managed to “breed in” aggression to these dogs that they were breeding for a fighting ring, then mayhap that line should be allowed to die off. But I could do the same exact thing with retrievers or poodles. If I start up a Poodle fighting ring, breeding my own fighters, does that somehow make all poodles suddenly suspect?
The way you phrased it, it sounded like you were talking about a common and condoned practice, not a practice that got people sent to jail for performing. (along with pretty much every dog owner feeling that the sentence Micheal Vick got being way too light.)
We have two dachshunds (rescued). We took them to the vet last week, and the “good” dog needed a muzzle. The “bad” dog got her nails trimmed without a fuss at all. She knows the tech and probably trusts her, but still…

No. When I was a county animal shelter volunteer, occasionally I’d get asked to help in the “back” where volunteers couldn’t be without supervision. This was where the sick animals and those with behavioral issues were kept. There was a big story in the news about a pit bull attacking a little kid. Of course, the pit bull battles raged. The pit bull had been picked up by an officer and was in the back awaiting its fate. The officer I was assisting asked if I wanted to see the infamous pit bull. I said “sure”. She showed me an innocuous-looking yellow lab.

Around here, the local gang bangers/drug dealers/street urchin thugs, if they can not legally own/possess a firearm because of an extensive history with law enforcement, will acquire a 4 legged means of equalization. What training the poor animal gets is often limited to pointing and saying KILL!!!.
And when the owner becomes a former owner due to room temp or becoming a guest of the Commonwealth, and the dog goes to the pound or rescue, goes to a loving family, then eats a child, it’s the breeds fault.

In other words, you’re a fucking idiot. My sister was bit by my neighbor’s yellow lab, who later bit his niece and had to be put down. We had a Westie, who, while generally a friendly dog, could get aggressive from time to time. (And it got worse in the last year or so before she died – in fact a few months before hand, she was getting really mean and we were considering having to put her down)
It’s always a fucking DOG. You’ve been given cites of attacks by other breeds (including ones where people mis-identified the dog as a “pit bull”), countless of them, and countless cites of pit bulls that were the complete opposite of what you claim they are. Pull your head out of your ass and pay attention or shut the fuck up.
