It's as if Daylight Savings Time never ended

More or less 1,000 miles to the west (I think - time zones confuse me).

While I hate DST and think it’s well past the time we should get rid of it, I do find some parts of it amusing. For instance, in the spring, people use it as an excuse to show up late to work… fine. But for some reason, people also use it to show up an hour late to work in the Fall, even though, logically, they should be showing up an hour early.

I’m just glad to know that all the printed invitations and e-mails concerning scheduled events that I receive will now be correct when they specify Eastern Standard Time – as they invariably do, whether or not we are on Eastern Daylight Time. They won’t change; but like a stopped clock, at least they’ll temporarily be right by accident.

And Saskatchewan - don’t forget Saskatchewan. I spent the first 21 years of my life not changing my stupid clocks.

I think (hope) that elucidator was being facetious. Saskatchewan is nothing but farmers*, and they don’t change the clocks there.

*Not completely true.

if god wanted us to have DST it would be in the bible.

It is. God stopped the sun so that Joshua could slaughter some Canaanites. Or Amorites. The Amish, maybe, don’t remember.

Don’t be too smug. I live in Tucson and my iPhone clock was set back by an hour yesterday. Apparently AT&T forgot Arizona doesn’t change times. I had to manually set it. The automatic signal put the right time on today, though.

(Aside to Cochran) As a brat, lived on Davis Monthan AFB. They still have miles miles of old airplanes? God, I loved that.

My AT&T device was so helpful it set the time back an hour twice. So all my manual clocks were an hour ahead and my phone was an hour behind.

Had to go into the settings and turn “auto time” off and back on for it to correct.

My Virgin Mobile phone changed the time with no problem and no reboot necessary, as did my alarm clock and computer clock. I did have to change the dash clock in my vehicle but it wasn’t a big deal since it’s analog.

I have one of those clock radios that sets the time automatically but has always been 12 minutes fast. Even after it reset the hour for daylight saving time, it is still 12 minutes fast. Even when I go in and change it manually, it always resets itself to be 12 minutes fast.

If you would prefer, I could say they are lazy OR stupid, but you don’t know them and I wouldn’t want to give you an inaccurate impression of them.

(signed) dropzone, who is lazy, stupid, and mean

Well played!

Thenk yew! bow

Did you get any phone calls in that time period? My house phone gets its time from the Caller ID, and thus won’t update time until someone calls. It wouldn’t surprise me if cell phones work similarly, just with an extra function to check the time when the phone is first turned on.
