Because it hasn’t, according to my cheap-shit Virgin Mobile phone. And the bank sign across from my barber shop. And the people in the barber shop who left work an hour early.
I can forgive the bank clock because there is nobody there on a Sunday to reset it. I can forgive the people in the barber shop because they are lazy and stupid and it’s a very nice Autumn Sunday. But a cell phone company should have its shit together enough to know what fucking time it is thirteen hours after it changed. I was forced to listen to WGN radio for ten whole minutes to be sure that I had fallen back on the correct night.
I hoped that this was going to be the bi-annual Daylight Savings Time rant. Close enough - I hate changing the clocks arbitrarily twice a year, and I think I always will.
if the clock is set by WWVB then it should be accurate though your clock may not have good reception and not get a signal to set from for part of a day.
the clock may have a function, maybe switchable, to auto switch time on the dates. it may have to old dates.
Idiotic, but it worked. Thanks! I need to pick up my wife at 3AM and was hoping to use my phone as a backup alarm for the two I already use (I switch off my ears when I sleep sometimes) but was afraid it would get reset while I was asleep.
Speaking on behalf of Arizona, Hawaii, Hobbes, and all the rest of us, let me just say- the real fun of living wisely is that you get to be smug about it.
The clock in the family room is wrong now, because it’s so high up and awkwardly placed that I need to get up on a ladder and reach precariously over to get at it. Last spring, it took me three weeks to get around to it. And the battery died in the kitchen clock, so it’s permanently 8:45 in there. Time is relative in my house, I guess.
The only clocks that really matter are the alarm clocks.
Farmers can operate on whatever schedule they want, we could move the clock ahead 4 hours and they’d still get up and do the work when they wanted. It’s those of us who are tied to a clock rather than the sun that this impacts.
