I’m so sorry StGermain. My step-brother was diagnosed last week with terminal Sarcoma. Cancer is just a bastard all the way around. I’ll keep you all in my thoughts.

My Mom is a breast cancer survivor.
All is not lost.
Keep posting on the SDMB, if you need to vent.
Avoid the Pitt.
All the best. I’ll wear my pink ribbon for you both today. My aunt beat breast cancer, but it did take a lot out our her - she was older though - 65.
Too much of this going around lately.
Best of luck StGermain.
faithfool - My sympathy for your step-brother and your family. My dad died of lung cancer - I think it’s harder on the family.
Bosda - Thanks. My mother’s a breast cancer survivor, too. And my aunt. But I also know people who’ve died from it. Hopefully they’ll find no lymph node involvement
Tamerlane - Thanks! And it wouldn’t kill you to pop in at the Camp every now and then, you know.
Dangerosa - Thanks!

Update on my sister - Lisa went back to the surgeon today (one week post-lumpectomy) to see what the next step is. He told her he wants her back in surgery next week to remove more tissue. One area he wasn’t too concerned about came back cancerous, and he wants to make sure he cleans it all out. She’ll meet with the oncologist once the surgeon gives her the all-clear.

Wow. I hope they get it all this time. My mother had to go back in two days after her lumpectomy. In all they removed the lump, some breast tissue and thirteen nodes. They got all the cancer, but can’t proceed with radiation until she’s fully healed from the procedures.
I wish your sister the best of luck and am sending positive thoughts to all of you.
Peace my friend…I know what my own Sis means to me…

Sending more supporting thoughts your way!
I’m so sorry to hear it. My sister is going to have a double mastecomy and her lymph nodes removed. She has several lumps and the doctor noted at her very young age (she’s 39), she would have a (I think) 60-70% chance of getting breast cancer again, so she’s not overly concerned about having the double mastectomy. My mother had breast cancer when she was in her 50s and had a lumpectomy. So far, my youngest sister and I are clear, but it’s definitely something I think about.
The doc is very optimistic about her prognosis, so we all try not to worry too much. I hope all goes well with your sister’s treatment.
