It's fuckin hot, and Carrier owes me something!!!

4 and a half years ago, a brand new Carrier heat pump and a/c unit was put into my house. Exactly 4 months later the motor went out. The installer had not installed it properly, and they were forced (they were not originally going to do it, and the building inspector had to be brought into the situation to make them) to replace the motor free of charge. 9 months after that, the motor again went out. They stated that the original 12 month warranty was the one that was valid, so because it was 1 month out,the new motor would not be covered. Not having the time or the money to fight this, it was paid for out of pocket. 600 dollars down the drain. 6 months later, something else broke. Then 6 months after that, something else broke. 1 year after that some sort of relay shorted out sending full power into all the delicate electronic sections of the unit, causing every single electronic board to blow, as well as the motor. 1200 dollars worth of repairs that time. Carrier was called, the original installer was installed. I had experts come out and do a static check, I had electricians come out to check the wiring in the house. Nothing faulty could be found. The problem was most definitely the Carrier unit. Still, I could not get either Carrier, or the installer to pay for the repair costs. Now, here it is, coming up on July in fuckin Oklahoma, and the bastard has broken yet again. This time, I do NOT have the money to fix it. My kids are hot and irritable, my husband is hot and irritable, and I am hot and bitchy. Think I could just go camp out in the nice cool air conditioned Carrier building?

Did you call the Better Business Bureau? I would if I were you.

That’s just plain bullshit. You’re the customer. You should be getting satisfaction here.

If that didn’t work, I’d be raising holy hell with my legislators and state consumer protection bureaus.

Good luck, though, whatever you do.

Tornado, you are not helping my piece of mind, man. Just 2 DAYS AGO my new AC was installed – you guessed it --CARRIER!

Aw, come on. It was only, what? 95 today?

Open a window, ya pansy.

Seriously, ** Airman Doors** made a good suggestion. Call the BBB.

Write a scathing Letters to the Editor for the Daily Oklahoman - I’ve seen stranger stuff in there. Make a big ol’ public stink about it.

Have you contacted the Carrier corporate office?

I know there’s gotta be a Consumer Protection Agency of some kind in OKC you can contact as well.

I have never had any trouble with the Carrier unit we have, or any other of the ones installed in my previous abodes.

Good luck. I hope you have some relief before it gets really hot here in August.
