It's Gonna Snow? Oh No! Oh No! Oh No!- A Winter MMP

Slush! Fog! Black ice! Dogs and cat living together! Mass Hysteria! And it’s Aldi run day, so that will be fun. How’s your weather?
I’m up. caffeinated, and shoveled. Off to heave. It’s currently 32 degrees Ferret Height(0 Centipedes) and dry.

Awwwwwwww.

First! And if everyone else gets trapped in the snow all week, last!

Atmospheric river here, so no snow, just the expectation of rain and flooding.

Second!

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 8c/47f with a predicted high of 9c/48f and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “Don’t you just love the fucking greyness of everything?”

No snow in my forecast either, just the usual wind, rain, and general overcast suckiness.

Busy day for me, I have already taken ‘im indoors to the station and am home again with a cuppa and some breakfast. Off to do the grocery shopping at lunchtime, and then going to the hairdresser’s after work.

I have another messy week as we’ve got language tests on campus tomorrow so I kind of feel I ought to be there because we’ve had problems with one particular student the last couple of times. I can’t do much about it, but I have that sense of responsibility. So tomorrow and Wednesday I’ll be on campus, home on Thursday, and campus on Friday. Messes up my cooking schedule and stuff like that, but being at home on Thursday means I get a bit of a lie-in after a late night out with my pub friends.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 48 Amurrkin out and cloudy with some rain due to be gone by nine a.m., then cloudy with a predicted high of 56. We shall make a trek to  Wally*World  this mornin’ for a few essentials and because OYKW has a gnawin’ and a cravin’, we will have lunch at the hog trough Golden Corral. That will take care of today’s main need to feed. Other than that, it will be the usual RDOS inactivities.

To all y’all expectin’ snow, better thee than me. However, do be careful if you must be out in ick weather.

BooFae may the snowflake stoodint behave this go round.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then alas and alack, I suppose I must purtify and don attire acceptable for bein’ amongst the great unwashed. How loathsome!

Happy Moanday Y’all!

Good morning! No snow here. Looks like we might get some rain in the next couple days.

Last week was testing. Back to the usual routine this week. Two IEPs down, four to go!

Oy! Bad night for sleep. OT today, everything else TBD.

red - I always see OT as overtime (yeah, I know) and it confused me since I know you’re retired! Hope you have a successful and encouraging session. I’m sure you’re like most of us and you’d rather be home than lying about in a medical facility!

Today starts with about 30 Ferrets and snow is forecast, tho theoretically less than half an inch. The fun (?) part is that tonight, it’s dropping to 19°!!! We’ll run thru all our pellets this year unless Feb and March are extra-mild. Like that’ll happen. I need to calculate the difference between another ton of pellets vs filling the heating oil tank. I’m not sure what heating oil is going for. (Just checked - $3.699/gal) No matter which way we go, it’ll be almost $400.

Anyway, today I’ll be applying Cetol to assorted boat stuff - the new hatch, the name/port boards, and the navigation light panels. So that’ll be fun. I’m not sure what else since I was in Happy Homemaker Mode yesterday. I need to persuade FCD to take a day off - like that’ll happen. I do have a plan of sorts tho - wish me luck.

Happy Moanday!!

Last night, Mrs. Nott went out to get a package off the porch, and she slipped, nearly falling, on the ice. We had no “ice melt,” but I scattered a handful of salt from the water softener on the porch.

We are kind of hoping he won’t turn up! Technically he doesn’t have to take the third test, he’s on a postgrad version of the module so he has two class tests and one essay. They usually turn up for all the tests and then take their best two results. So far, his best two results are mid-20s and zero…

That’s scary! Glad that there wasn’t any damage.

Got a fire going in the basement and I cleared an area for us to do Cetol so the shop doesn’t need to be heated all night. FCD will sand in the shop to keep dust out of the basement. It’s a plan! As soon as he gets home, we can get going. He’s getting the nav light holders off the boat and he’ll buy a roll of paper to protect the table from drips.

Mire than you care to know, right?

Monday, Monday…

26 ferrets (-3 centipedes, for you foreigners) and sunny; predicted high 29F/-2 C and a low to night of 11F/-12C. A 20% chance of getting our first snow tomorrow night, and 40% for Friday night. Remember all those old stories about New England having three or four (or more!) feet of snow in December?

Finally got the numbers for Thanksgiving: over 600 meals delivered to duty sections, local first responders (fire, police, and ambulance crews), shut-ins, and veterans who weren’t up to facing the drive or the crowds), over 500 served at the clubhouse, and over 200 carry-outs. The base galley helped, cooking 52 birds to go with the 63 cooked at the clubhouse, over 300 pounds of potatoes, and 300 pounds of butternut squash donated from someone’s garden. And all of the cooking, preparing, serving, and cleanup at the clubhouse was done by volunteers.

A few more uneventful weeks facing us. The library will get plenty of visits, as will as some of the local stores, but I don’t hink we havemuch else planned.

And a good morning to all. Slept through to 6:30am without a Bladder Alert, so starting out the day pretty good. Not much on the agenda, need to do the usual shop-n-sammich run here in a bit, do penance at the gym for the conspicuous consumption yesterday, and we’ll see what else develops. 41F and according to the Weather Wizards it will get all the way to…42F. At least there is no rain in the forecast and the week may be cloudy but not much chance of precipitation, rain or snow. Just did most of my Xmas shopping at Amazon, so that is done (save for the paying off the credit card part…).

boo fae, may your plans work out and your travels be on-time and the troublesome student becomes confused on the way to your workplace…

Hoping for a routine week, Sticky Buns

FCM, like you, I read red’s OT as overtime (it’s occupational therapy, right?). I’m looking at snow in Ashland Virginia right now on one of the railcams, hope it isn’t to heavy in your neck of the woods. Happy Cetoling!

Knots, hope Mrs. Nott isn’t too bruised from the fall, hope the salt helps.

Herald, sounds like many good things were done over T-Day; my heartfelt congratulations to all.

And about 1 hour to Jersey Mike’s #3. Have a good week all.

Mornin’ everyone.

It’s 48°F and raining. The rain will continue all day, with a daytime high of 58°F. We’re expecting one to two inches of rain and have landslide cautions, gale warnings, flood watches, and small craft advisories. These warnings are in effect all week and sandbag stations are open in the county next to mine (probably mine, too).

Knots, I hope Mrs. Nott isn’t too sore. I’m glad she wasn’t more seriously hurt.

BooFae, I hope the “special” student isn’t so special tomorrow.

Sticky, I hope this week goes smoothly for you.

I had a very restless night, and consequently didn’t roll out of bed until 0630. The poor pups were just STAH-VING!

I am getting a haircut later this week because it’s well overdue. I last cut my hair in September. I should dust and run the rollsuck today.

And, that’s about all that is on my agenda, other than some adulting. Fun times!

Alright, time for more coffee and then on with the day.

Same with me - I’m scraggly looking and I was thinking I should have something done about it. My last cut was right after we got back from cruise, and the shaved area in the back has finally grown out enough to be properly layered… I hope.

I started having visions of FCD in an accident since he was still gone. Turns out he went to Lowes… and was looking at tools… so that explains that. He’s on his way now, tho, and I caught him before he left and reminded him that we were almost out of AA and AAA batteries. Heaven forbid one of the grands’ toys fizzles out and we’re without batteries!!! Or worse, that a TV remote dies!!! :open_mouth:

That’s huge, great work!!!

Is Otis going to help?

Fingers crossed with you!

Not great. If you have a Lowes account, they will deliver ice melt to your door. And you can set up an account easily enough at home.

While they won’t spoil, double check the long range weather because this winter is supposed to be wetter and warmer than last winter.

I’m so sorry. It is very hard to heal when you can’t rest well.

It didn’t start snowing here until about 8. The temp was in the mid 40’s at 6 and has now dropped to 29F. I’m not even pretending to stitch, I’m just sitting in my room watching it come down.

While I do understand your feelings, I’m loving this. I probably wouldn’t if I was still working though.

We are going up north for a VA appointment this afternoon and might stop at Aldi on our way home. We don’t really need much, but I’m really liking their hard cider. We haven’t decided where to eat yet, he is talking about Mexican, but there is a great Indian place by the interstate that we haven’t been to in a while.

Now the snow is starting to stick on the sidewalk so I guess I’ll get out there with my broom. We have ice melt in the laundry room, I’d just rather not use it if we don’t have to.

I was bounced around a bit, and ended up loading Middle Red on the 100. Which considering at first I was getting huge boxes for bulk loads that were in the 15-30 box range didn’t go too bad. There weren’t any damages, so I was out by 8. I had to kill an hour till Aldi opened, so I went to the Rich People’s Harris Teeter to buy an onion and hang out for a bit. But they were playing Christmas music, so I bought my stuff and fled, lest I endure Whammageddon. I huddled in my car for the 20min til opening, then did a quick run. I’ve had my oatmeal(apples, brown sugar and cinnamon) and a 'nanner. Now to nap through the wintry mix. Although then city is not brining right now, for…reasons.

Sounds like you might be testing your foul language on the Human Festivus Grievance.

Yay!

Eek! Glad she stayed upright.

Y’all done good.

Hope you get get some tonight.

14F and light blowing snow to perhaps reach an inch. Worse weather is coming later in the week, with more snow following freezing rain and very cold temps. The roads should be. . .entertaining.

I have to do grocery shopping today, but the wife is feeling off so I may not have any help with it.

Breakfasted both people and cat, exercised my tired ass and finished all puzzles.

We are currently having a heat wave. Today’s temperature high was 12°C (53.6°F) and normally it would be 5°C (41°F). [After reading more, I see that we’re warmer than Alabama! :open_mouth:] The rest of the week won’t be quite so warm, but we won’t be seeing any snow any time soon.

On Saturday morning I got a text that a relative was in town - I knew they were coming, but didn’t know when. Ended up playing tour guide and did a lot of walking. So Sunday was recovering from Saturday, plus baking pumpkin for pies, and I made stuffed manicotti for lunch. Today I made the crust for pumpkin pies, plus nanaimo bars, and we ate chicken and dressing from the freezer. Glad today’s a holiday (Feast of the Immaculate Conception), because otherwise I wouldn’t have had time for the nanaimo bars.

Still want to make Pfeffernüsse, but that’s next weekend’s baking task. Maybe.

From last week’s MMP:

In Switzerland this is called Quittenbrot (Quince bread, even though there is no flour in it), and I just had some last week from my coworker, who made it with quince from her garden. I had no idea it came from Spain. Yummy!

There’s always the joke about having too much squash, but it sounds like this squash was very much appreciated. I actually make pumpkin pies with ½ butternut squash - they have more fiber, and they yield a lot more pulp.

Got Whammed on Saturday while at the hair salon. They were playing Christmas music non-stop. At least they had a cheery fire scene on the television.

Might warm up some manicotti for dinner and make an early night of it. Only 9 more days of work before Christmas break.

the weather continues to disappoint. philly is a “no snow zone”.

friday was the “deck the lobby” event. it went well. i took pictures in case someone decides they don’t like it. 5 hours set up for a 45 minute event.

my new lands end jacket arrived and i was able to test it on saturday, during disappointing snow flurries. i’m happy with it. i got though the last of the list for the 25th. now to get it all sent out.

i considered going back to the estate sale on sunday… decided to stay in and eat ice cream instead.

back to the office today and the last full week of work for the year.

fcm, fcd does amazing work. your boat is going to be the best looking boat on the water!

asknott, i hope the mrs feels okay today. some times those “off balance” dance moves can make muscles unhappy.

scadian, that is an amazing accomplishment! my mind just boggles at the numbers.

missred, i hope your day goes better than the night.
