The weather is supposed to be a few degrees warmer tomorrow, but it is also supposed to rain so James and I had our day out today. He came prepared with a list of places he wanted to go and had them arranged so we wouldn’t waste any time back tracking.
We went to three used book stores where he had books waiting at the counter and hit a couple of thrift stores. He was thrilled to find a “college teacher jacket”, tweed with elbow patches and looked at ties but didn’t find a thin one like he wore when he was teaching.
We hit a department store where he allowed me to buy him some heated gloves and he helped me pick pjs for my Angel. I wanted to buy James some thermal long johns, but he got flustered when I offered, so I shut my mouth. Old men can be so strange at times.
We had greasy cheese burgers, fries and not greasy shakes and sundaes at Dairy Land, then went to Kroger for snacks.
All in all, it was a good day and I’m thinking we might make this a monthly thing. The nursing home has a van and will take patients out once a week, but they only make a few stops which do not include used book stores. It will do me good to get out to different places anyhow, hubs and I have gotten into a rut. Hubs doesn’t like doing the sort of shopping James and I did today which means he had a day to do nothing but kill monsters.
I’m all shopped out for a while though. It will take me a month to recover!
Happy Anniversary, that’s a long time together without killing each other ![]()
Are you really sure you don’t have a couple of little long nosed cats?
She’s waiting to memorize your credit card number, she already has your chewy passwords…
No black ice is always a good thing!
If they are doing conscious sedation like I had during my cataract surgery, he will be awake and mobile when you pick him up. Of course he shouldn’t drive with those drugs in his system, but he won’t need you to put him in a wheelchair and he’ll be able to tell you what he needs. I do hope he isn’t in pain.
That wouldn’t have been a great start to the day, dang!
Looking at it in the cold light of the day, I can see that it would have worked better if the snow was deeper and I was dancing on a wool rug for an hour instead instead of stomping on sisal for a few minutes and calling it good.
I’m happy here, it felt like I had finally come home the first day I stepped through the door. Good neighbors make such a difference and sometimes neighbors who don’t ask questions are even better, LOL!
Its so good to hear from you but dang, sounds like things have been not the best.
I really do hope the cortisone shots help, ain’t nobody wants s——!
