It's Gonna Snow? Oh No! Oh No! Oh No!- A Winter MMP

The weather is supposed to be a few degrees warmer tomorrow, but it is also supposed to rain so James and I had our day out today. He came prepared with a list of places he wanted to go and had them arranged so we wouldn’t waste any time back tracking.

We went to three used book stores where he had books waiting at the counter and hit a couple of thrift stores. He was thrilled to find a “college teacher jacket”, tweed with elbow patches and looked at ties but didn’t find a thin one like he wore when he was teaching.

We hit a department store where he allowed me to buy him some heated gloves and he helped me pick pjs for my Angel. I wanted to buy James some thermal long johns, but he got flustered when I offered, so I shut my mouth. Old men can be so strange at times.

We had greasy cheese burgers, fries and not greasy shakes and sundaes at Dairy Land, then went to Kroger for snacks.

All in all, it was a good day and I’m thinking we might make this a monthly thing. The nursing home has a van and will take patients out once a week, but they only make a few stops which do not include used book stores. It will do me good to get out to different places anyhow, hubs and I have gotten into a rut. Hubs doesn’t like doing the sort of shopping James and I did today which means he had a day to do nothing but kill monsters.

I’m all shopped out for a while though. It will take me a month to recover!

Happy Anniversary, that’s a long time together without killing each other

Are you really sure you don’t have a couple of little long nosed cats?

She’s waiting to memorize your credit card number, she already has your chewy passwords…

No black ice is always a good thing!

If they are doing conscious sedation like I had during my cataract surgery, he will be awake and mobile when you pick him up. Of course he shouldn’t drive with those drugs in his system, but he won’t need you to put him in a wheelchair and he’ll be able to tell you what he needs. I do hope he isn’t in pain.

That wouldn’t have been a great start to the day, dang!

Looking at it in the cold light of the day, I can see that it would have worked better if the snow was deeper and I was dancing on a wool rug for an hour instead instead of stomping on sisal for a few minutes and calling it good.

I’m happy here, it felt like I had finally come home the first day I stepped through the door. Good neighbors make such a difference and sometimes neighbors who don’t ask questions are even better, LOL!

Its so good to hear from you but dang, sounds like things have been not the best.

I really do hope the cortisone shots help, ain’t nobody wants s——!

The freight elevator in our tower is working. I didn’t have to walk up 10 flights of stairs. Whew!

Howdy Y’all! Laundry got laundered and put where it stays until it gets dirty again. That wore me out, so nappage was needed. That made me thirsty, so day drinkin’ was needed. Then sup got fixed and et. Life is such a whirlwind here in da cave.

MOOOOOOM happy anniversary to FCD and you! I don’t get to eat sushi often, so I am jealous. Otis looks so angelic. I can’t imagine him bein’ a pest at all.

Cookie Sadie looks like she has some serious emails to write and send.

Nuts I will happily direct any snow that may be comin’ my way to you. I will tell it to do so right now.

JtC that sounds like a good day out for James and you. Plus you definitely stored up some good karma. Strive to be the neighbor that makes the neighbors say “come look out the window, she’s at it again!”

Taters hope the dentist gives your son the good stuff. I like the good stuff. It’s nice to mellow out and just be.

And a happy late afternoon to all. About 75% of the crossword is done, 1,400 calories got burned, and my Mac-n-Cheese will be ready in a little bit, so a pretty good day all around. The clouds actually went away and the sun came out for awhile, which was a pleasant change. Still only 41F outside so no rush to head back outside.

rocky, hope the elevators were working by the time you get back (and I see you found a work-around). I’ll do treadmill and cycles for my cardio at the gym, but I refuse to use the stair machines.

Taters, stay dry.

FCM, I spoke in jest, but that’s still pretty good mileage on the Cetol considering the amount of work you put into it. Lovely pick of Otis in repose.

doggio, I spoke above of my cardio workouts, you will never need a gym membership long as you are working there.

Cookie, I see that we need to make Sadie an honorary Mumper…and hope the snowfall isn’t to drastic.

rocky, there are a couple clips like that, but you had the funniest one. Coppertone, I googled around and it appears rocky’s post is AI-generated, but it’s based on a real-life video that apparently did happen, you can find it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Db3rluT76w

Been there, been gloomy at that. Hope it gets better soon.

You are ahead of me; there are parts of my cellphone I still haven’t grokked yet after nearly 3 years and my new car is still confusing me.

JtC, sounds like James is a pretty smart guy, especially in planning ahead. Good on ya for feeding his book habit (and doing some shopping yourself).

And closing in on 6pm so need to get that Mac-n-Cheese working. See ya’all later tonight.

There have been moments…

Maybe I should post a pic of the bruises on my arms and hands. To be fair, some are my fault - I reached for his toy at the same time he did, and my hand was in the way of his mouth. I gotta say, that pup is quick!

We had a nice dinner out. Started with squid salad - not sure what all is in it other than squid and cucumber, but it was all tasty. Then I had a Maryland roll (crab, Old Bay, avocado, cucumber) and shrimp tempura roll. Very yum.

FCD asked about our gutter cleaning - I’d forgotten, but it’s 8AM on Sat. It may not be above freezing at that time - poor guy! But it’s the way it goes when one works outdoors, ain’t it?

Now, it’s chillage time for sure.

I fixed the problem! Turns out that the red light on top of the Dot means voice is off, not on. ::does a jig::

Happy anniversary Mooooom and FCD!

9:30pm and only activity in the past 3 hours has been eating and Pepsi-ing, so will be heading off to slumberland here in a short while. Y’all take care now.

19:34, and a couple of hours ago I baked some rockfish with Cajun seasoning. The Spousal Unit liked it, but I thought it was ‘Meh.’

Had a Manhattan, Redneck Stirfry, and watched hockey. Now it’s up, caffeinated, and sheveled, and off to heave.
Also, since it’s gonna be freakin’ cold this winter, I ordered 6 long sleeves shirts for work.

Had to build up Zoomie Energy.

Spot enjoys TV.

Yet

Chefguy: < turns voice on >
Sadie: “Meow
Friday: < six cases of yellowfin tuna delivered >

I spent the day feeling worthless. I helped the two people who will take over part of my job functions. I got some data done, because I’m still the Data Operations Manager and I will not sit on our members’ data while our national database people figure out what I do. I applied for a job. It’s a remote position, so I suspect it’s a scam. But still…

I’d thawed some rockfish, so I made it for dinner. I only put it on a thin coating of olive oil, and dusted it with some Cajun/Creole seasoning I’d mixed up a while ago. We had it with some mayo/sweet pickle relish/dill ‘tartar sauce’. The Spousal Unit said it was good, but I thought it was a bit bland.

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 9c/48f with a predicted high of 11c/51f and showers. Weather app says “Rain is fucking annoying. It’s almost as annoying as listening to your fucking co-worker chew.”

Happy Fairychatversary, a little late but why not keep the celebrations going?

‘im indoors is much the same - I have a list that I write in the order that the supermarket aisles are in (confuses me mightily when they move stuff!) so I pick up what’s on the list and it’s a fairly simple operation. He will wander around with a vague idea of some things he wants, and takes much longer than me.

He managed to get to the right room on the first try, so that’s an improvement! I’m sure there will be something that annoys him, that’s for sure.

That does sound busy, but it will be nice to spend a bit of time with your son and also to know that he’s settled and ok after his appointment.

He did, and with a minimum of drama this time. Won’t do him much good, he has done incredibly badly in the course so far and we know he doesn’t have a hope of passing, but at least he managed to get there.

Sounds like you had a fun day out, and James is obviously prepared in advance to make the most of his trip too. Hubs probably enjoyed an uninterrupted day shooting at things too.

I am sorry to hear it, but you are definitely not worthless. You helped people do stuff, you did other stuff yourself, you made food and I’m sure you already have an idea of how to make that meal better. Not worthless at all!

Yesterday was not a bad irk day, got some things done but it wasn’t a majorly productive day. I went home and rescued the bin from the kerb and hauled it back to where it lives, tended to the needs of cats, had some dinner and completed some administrivia. Highlight of the day was ordering some flowers and a gift for a friend’s Big Birthday, and conspiring with her husband to make sure one of them will be at home on delivery day.

Today I need to have a meeting with our Ops Manager so that will be fun, he promised me tea and a mince pie though so it can’t be all bad. Nothing else in my calendar so far, and I hope it stays that way. I brought xmas gifts in for everyone in the office, just a little tree ornament for each of them so today was the day to sneak them onto desks. Our receptionist only works uni term-time dates so today is her last day in the office, and there’s at least one person I probably won’t see again in person until next year.

Tonight should be pub night with my friends, just waiting for an email from them to say everyone’s fit and well. We have had a delivery of water bottles this morning so my tea supplies are in no danger. On that note, must be time for another cuppa!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 32 Amurrkin out and hazy with a predicted high of 60 and sunny. Haven’t seen the sun in over a week, so that will be nice. The big item on today’s agenda is to procure provisions. Outside of that we will indulge in RDOS Inactivities. Wednesday night doin’s are on hold until January, so we shall sup upon shrimpies ‘n grits, green sallit, and cheesey garlic bread. Easy to make and very nummy.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas and bother, I must purtify and don attire acceptable for bein’ amongst the great unwashed. The horrors of the general public!

Happy Hump Day Y’all!

Not so much Zoomie as chew-me!

Unfortunately, today is the anniversary of MIL’s death, so that kinda puts a damper on celebrations. FCD is having a really tough time dealing with the loss of his parents, blaming himself because he couldn’t do anything (as if anyone could have.) Sorry - didn’t mean to be a downer - the icky weather is doing that on its own here. Rain or maybe not depending on which forecast you choose to believe.

Does he know that?

Same here, sorta. There are a few sale items I want to get, but it’ll be a quick run to Food Lion and Aldi, and maybe a stop at Tractor Supply for a sack o’ dirt. Potting soil, specifically.

I’ll be putting the first clear coat of Cetol on the signs and the hatch. I also need to run 5 lap blankets thru a rinse cycle before calling Jessica. Idiot dog drooled on several of them and I want to be sure clean blankies are delivered. I’m also working on another, larger blanket that I think I’ll be keeping. I’m liking the way it looks,

I expect to be dragging long before bedtime - I woke at 4 and that was that. Dammit. I think I’ll pull some sketty sauce out of the freezer - we haven’t had sketties in ages. Or I can do a pasta bake. Decisions, decisions…

For now, tho, caffeination continues.

Happy Wednesday!

That must be difficult for FCD to handle, and for you too. It’s very hard to get past those feelings of guilt, that you could have done more or said more or been more understanding. But you can only deal with what’s in front of you at the time. I am sorry that he feels so bad about it, and I doubt you’ll ever be able to persuade him that he should not blame himself. Time and distance might soften the feelings, that’s pretty much all you can hope for.

Quite possibly - he will have received his marks from the first test already. I know he’s applied for an extension on the essay, which is the last component of the assessments, but passing that bit isn’t likely to be enough. He’s on a programme that has a requirement for 40 credits of language modules, which we know he’s not going to achieve, so we’ll have to come up with a cunning plan to get him through!

Up and more-or-less at 'em. The snow stopped sometime last night and the plow crews were on top of things. Freeway traffic is moving right along and our parking lot is cleared. They don’t mess around here when it comes to snow removal. I compare this to Anchorage, which was always a mess all winter, with dangerous ice ridges building up on main streets that were narrowed to one lane, and several feet of snow on sidewalks and at bus stops. We’re in the 20s, but that will drop back into the deep freeze in a few days.

Good morning! Right now, here in Elkhart, Indiana, it’s 36 F at just after 8:15 am, and my weather app says we’ll have a wintry mix until about noon, rising only to 37 F. A lot of the accumulated snow has already melted.

Gosh, that sketch clip was funny. I have seen the phrase ROTFL before, but you rarely see it happening.

No apology needed. FCD is having a difficult time with this and that affects your life.

Awake, breakfasted and ready for the day. Sis will bring Nelson in today , so there’s that.

Good morning all. Up and broken fast, the only thing on my agenda is taking the garbage out to the curb this evening, so probably more crossword solving and gym sweating to fill my afternoon. Anorther clear day with temperatures rising all the way to 55F, with 60F possible tomorrow, so no snow here.

flyboy, what boo fae said since she said it much better than I could. Hang in there.

And boo fae, enjoy the mince pie and the pub night.

Happy provisioning, swampy.

FCM, doesn’t seem like it has been a year already. My condolences to FCD but he does need to stop blaming himself, he went above and beyond (you did too) in helping and making their last years comfortable.

Enjoy the Nelson visit, red

And queued up a couple You Tubes…Christmas Disasters (the History Guy) and Fails That Only Get Worse (Fail Army). A barrel of laughs I am on Hump Day…

Good morning.

It’s 55°F and raining. RAIN, RAIN, RAIN everywhere. Flooding; everywhere. The expected high is 58°F, and the rain will fall throughout the day and night, some of it heavy.

Metal Mouse, I’m guessing this will not be a conscious sedation, or my son wouldn’t ask me to drive clear down there. This appointment is the first in several months of work needed for a tooth implant. I’m not sure if today is a bone grafting or another root canal.

Flyboy, you are not worthless. You are doing the best you can and doing your work well. Please hang in there.

FCM, I’m sorry that FCD continues to struggle with the loss of his parents. He did everything he could.

JtC, it sounds like you and James had an enjoyable outing. It’s so kind of you to do that for him.

I need to get the rest of my decor up, but I did manage to get the tree up and decorated a couple of days ago. I also decorated the table top next to the tree. But, the village needs to go up in the fireplace niche, so I need pull all the pics I have up there out first.

I’m not looking forward to driving down to Oly town tomorrow morning. The section of I-5 from about Dupont to just before the Capitol exit has horrible standing water problems. Add the semis pushing water out and into you as you try to get around them, and the situation is much worse.

I guess that’s about it for this part of the world. You all take care of yourselves.
